Anyone experience constipation with colitis? Seems every once in a while I can go a few days without a movement. Then I'm bloated. Usually followed by diarrhea. Happens a few times a year.

Constipation with colitis?
I have colitis and have slow transit colon and levator-ani syndrome.Unfortunately for me I have constant constipation as I have very limited "push" function which causes a lot of bloating, Bowel spasms and daily pain.
Anti spasm meds and painkillers only have minimum effect.
I have daily trans-anal irrigation and manual extraction, sounds gross but it has become my normal.
Before covid I was seeing my specialist womens physio who advises and monitors bowel function. What really helps is when she does abdominal Visceral massage which can help with Bowel spams and "moves things" along.
I also attended my colorectal consultant who gave me botox injections into pubirectalis muscles and I found combination of treatments did help, although doesn't eradicate pain it does give short term relief.
Will be expecting my treatment to restart once NHS clinics get back to normal.
Sorry to hear you have Bowel issues as well and receive a treatment that works for you.
Hi, I have had UC for almost fifty years and the past few years have been experiencing bouts of constipation, so my doctor prescribed cosmocol a stool softener which I use as and when necessary. I think bloating is somewhat usual for people with bowel problems.I hope you get some relief soon ☺️
Take care.
