Low Carb Diet May Shorten Life
Having been Type I Diabetic since childhood my ears pricked up when I heard this on the news his morning := https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-45195474 Because of my diabetes I have been carb counting for over half a century. Some consultants have had different ideas (mainly in the seventies) but these

Does LCHF give you headaches at first?
I tried to go LCHF yesterday but ended up with a bad headache. I do suffer sometimes with them so not sure if it’s connected. Do you feel a bit bad for about four days? Then it gets better? X

Everyone needs a rant sometimes - Especially with Endo!
So I don't post on here very often but I feel like I need a rant and where else better to do it! So I am always in a constant battle to look after myself as best I can - After growing up watching my mum suffer with Endo for years when there was no info out there about it I now feel that it is my duty

Thinking about trying low carb high fat way of eating
Do you still stick within your calories range on the LC/HF way of eating? Can you eat cream? Obviously without all the sugary things that go with it xxx

Crap day, brusque Doctor
I have menopause kicking my ass as well as thyroid. I’m having a bad day. I should put a sack over my head really and stay in a corner. The thing that is upsetting me most today apart from the endless lack of energy and the constant aches, pains and stiffness in my joints and non-functioning brain,

Things that helped T4/NDT therapy.
I thought we can share some things that made a difference for us energy wise or in hypo well being, either in good or bad ways. Things that have helped my energy, and made me feel that thyroxine was working better: Selenium (100 mcg/day). People in Europe/New Zealand are deficient in it, USA is

Low-carb breakfast
Posting photos on the internets isn't really my thing, but I thought some people might be interested in a LCHF breakfast. That's home-cured bacon, mushrooms, scrambled free-range eggs with fresh oregano, stir-fried sweet potato leaves and daylilies, and butterfly pea flowers (yes, they're edible - taste

Lancet study on carbs: a critique
This is quite long, so rather than clutter up Zest's thread (or the other one discussing the newspaper editorial) I thought I'd better create a separate one, simply because lot of people might find my comments too boring to respond to :) First off (and I'm not pretending this is an academic observation

Going gluten free with hashimotos
hi - I have hashimotos and have had it for 15 years. I am on levothyroxine 125mcg/100mcg alternate days. Generally I have been well on this regime. What I am enquiring about is the hashimotos and coeliac connection. I have not had any gut problems with my underactive thyroid until now - although last

Wellbeing in old age as well
Dear Yellow12345 and All, I am so happy to have read the posts on this site. I feel we do have a choice. I am a 63 year old active female, 5.3 height, 55kgs, who recently was diagnosed with a hip impingement, symptoms were hip pain after sitting. I went to the doctor for this ailment and was told that

Can gluten-free diet reduce need for Levothyroxine or dose of Levo?
Hello I’ve heard a lot from this group about the importance of GF diet which I have been following for the last 5 weeks. I was wondering what effect it could have on hypothyroid and TSH etc? Has anyone measured the effect ? I know Yoga can help with thyroid activity - sadly I haven’t had the energy
