You might or might not know that I have been accumulating information about thyroid issues in my blog - I have created a significant number of pages now.

Many will be aware of some of the specific pages which I link to quite regularly. But you might not have realised what else is there. Below is a copy of the index page - which lists all the pages that make up the blog. Some of these pages link onwards to a variety of documents.

For clarity, the blog is hosted on blogger which is owned by Google. But nothing is set to gather information, other than some overview of which country and what browser visitors are using, I have absolutely no idea who visits, there are no affiliate links, there is nothing for sale. If you have to allow cookies or whatever, I am sorry, but there is nothing more I can do to remove or reduce that further.

Document links go on to Dropbox - and, similarly, that is also set so I get no information from visitors.

You do NOT need to sign up to anything or download anything other than the document itself. (Assuming you have at least one app which can view PDF files.)

Looks fascinating. I wish it didn't as then it would mean I was healthy I tried to read the cyanide content of cyanocobalamin without success. It downloaded the Dropbox file but then I couldn't open it. Is there a version other than on Dropbox? I don't really want to install Dropbox

helvella profile image
helvellaAdministratorThyroid UK in reply to BB001

You do NOT need to install Dropbox. I assure you, I don't install Dropbox software at all. It should either download to your device and open in your browser or whatever you have set as the app to open PDFs.

For me, if I click on the link, the document downloads to my Downloads folder. Then I can look at downloaded files (either the actual folder or the list shown on my browser) and simply open it. But it might open automatically on other devices.

However what happens depends very much on your device.

Thank you for the information. The file downloads, but I get a message 'can't open file'. I have Adobe pdf reader installed but it won't open the file, even when I email it to myself and try to open it from Adobe. It might have something to do with my being on a smartphone but not paying for Microsoft 365. I'll try opening it from a computer.

No need to pay for Microsoft 365! Honest.

On most smartphones PDFs will open in your browser.

I've given up using Adobe PDF reader at all. I used to use it but the combination of improvements in how browsers handle PDFs, and now using a Mac (which has Preview - a very effective PDF viewer), means there is no longer any reason at all.

Any ideas? Anyone?

File downloaded. Error message 'can't open file'.

What happens if you just tap on the filename?

What happens if you tap on the three dots symbol?

wow! That’s so helpful. Thank you helvella.

I credit this group with saving my life. not completely out of the water yet but a lot better. The damage is massive. My brain is still frazzled, I’m hopeful that it will settle down (“fog” indeed). As it comes into play the horror of my time under nhs “care” hits me & I cannot understand how “medical professionals” get away with it.

They aren’t going to get away with it.

hel,

I’ve just replied in another post but will point out your responses here evidence how immensely grateful members are for your blogs, but todays post will be yesterdays info in a few days.

If your blogs were pinned, members in the know (such as those above) could direct newbies to this rich source of information.

Helvella,

What a wonderful resource for us all. I do hope that this information is somehow secured and that systems are in place to ensure legacy building?

Also a pinned link would be useful at the start of Thyroid U.K. Healthunlocked site.

Thank you Helvella.

Make the link in the original post a favourite in your browser?

OR

You can save the link as an app on most phones.

For Apple IOS

Open the link. Then, in Safari, go to the Share menu. Scroll down to Add to Home Screen and click on that. You get what looks like an icon for an app. You can move that to any position or page of your Home Screen.
