I'm coming to the end of my bottle of three arrows heme Iron. I'm just wondering if there any other recommendations for a cheaper iron supplemem4 ? I can't really afford three arrows at the moment.

A question for Sue. I’ve been taking 3 x 200 mg ferrous sulphate tabs every other day as you advised but I’m experiencing side effects that I could do without at the moment. I don’t want to reduce the overall dosage and I want to ask if 2 tabs taken once daily would be a reasonable and safe alternative

Iron with sulfate or iron with gluconate? Do you have any suggestions or personal experience or opinions regarding this?

asked my doctor last week to order a full panel iron test. Lab order was written as IRON(F). 3 hours later get a message that preliminary result is iron high 172 gu/dl. Doctor will discuss results later. Nothing on Ferritin. Have an appointment with Neurologist next month.

What is a good trustworthy iron supplement to take?

I have been taking 50mg of iron bigylcinate every night which does help me sleep and diminish my RLS. But now my blood pressure as risen to the 130-140/70s and I am wondering if I am getting too much iron and that could be the cause of the blood pressure rise. Any ideas, anyone?

It's possible to have a low brain level of iron but a normal blood level of iron. The two levels can be different. Diagnosing low brain iron Brain iron deficiency should be one of the first considerations when looking for a cause of RLS. But diagnosing low brain iron is tricky.

She advised me to take oral iron - which I do - but did not order the transfusion.

Is the best & cheapest iron panel test to do the medichecks £49 one. I want it to monitor progress on iron supplementation. Do I need more than just the ferritin tested? Thank you!

His platelets have come down but he still has raised red blood levels and a recent blood test showed high iron levels. Has anyone else had this happen. He may have to have a venesection.

I took my last dose of 56mg Iron Bisclycinate on alternate nights having to accept this was the probable cause of regular unpleasant Stomach aches, well surprise surprise my result came back at 397ug/l I assume this indicates that I`m one of the 40% for whom iron makes no difference, strangely enough

I have done a bit of research and think the next steps should be an iron panel, however my GP has told me that it’s a good thing to have a lot of iron in the blood and there is no need for further testing. I don’t take any iron supplements or eat any food which is particularly rich in iron.

I need to re asses my medication and look to get iron infusion. I have lots of knowledge but need a neurologist that know RLS and is willing to support Iron infusion. happy to go online any suggestions?

Hi All, I was wondering whether supplementing with iron (not mega doses, more 20-30mg daily) increases TSH over time? I feel it’s really slowed me down digestion wise. It started ok but now it’s really noticeable. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
