25, 50 and 75 microgram Vencamil tablets have been released into UK distribution.
I have already added them to my UK medicines document! (That is, they were mentioned, and I have added a start of distribution date.) However, it might take a while for them to become available, for GP systems to be updated, etc. Aristo did release the information about them some time ago (several weeks) such that the NHS and GP systems could already have included them. But they are not always speedy at doing so.
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK
The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes injectables and descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d), etc. PLUS how to write prescriptions in Appendix F.
helvella, that's great news, thank for posting. Cutting a 100mcgm tablet in to 4 pieces is a pain. I should be able to get 25mcgms then with my next scrip. I shall have a letter ready for my GP.
Aristo had them recorded on the dm+d database weeks ago but we've seen delays in migrating from there to GP surgery systems. Very good to know they are on at least some systems. (But may not have arrived on all systems!)
The main reason I've stuck with this GP surgery is that their administration is pretty good, but I'm sure some other surgeries will be dragging their heels with updating their systems and it might take a few weeks for the rest to get it online.
FYI my chemist hasn't yet been able to source the 25mcgs as apparently Alliance & HT (?) wholesalers arent yet stocking it. Pharmacist has had to go to head office to ask if he can source it from elsewhere. This is an independent pharmacy btw.
They might not stock it - I know of them but nothing about them.
Aristo have said:
In terms of Alliance, they have now ordered all of the new strengths and will have them delivered to their main hub at South Normanton on Monday (30/9). All pharmacies will be able to see them on the system and order them from that point.
So any pharmacy which can order from Alliance should now have access and they should be deliverable within a couple of days. Until Alliance run out...
