T3 test

hi there Does anyone have any advice as to how many hours beforehand we should take T4 and T3 medication before a Reverse T3 test? Anything else to avoid beforehand or if I need to fast? Many thanks in advance 😃

At a recent blood test my free T3 was 3.3. Is this normal or o[u]n[/u] the low side?

Seen by a different GP today for pains in my shoulder (I believe from GERD) asked her about my thyroid testing and why they had never done a T3 and Reverse T3 test - she advised GP’s are not allowed to request this and could only be done through an endocrinologist.

Hello, I recently ordered a private test. I have been on alternating 150/125ug levo for around a year. My GP asked me to reduce levo before Christmas as TSH is consistently below 1. So I ordered a T3 test. Dose this T3 look OK? Do you think it's worth asking for a refreal to an Endo?

I was livid because no T4/T3 test had been done so I don't know what they were but on past experience, I'd guess they were on the low side of 'in range'. I requested a T4/T3 test but was refused. GP said there is no need to test it. I tested privately a week later.

After much reading and doctor visiting she is convinced she requires the T3 drug. She has had two blood tests done and both come back without any mention of T3 levels, only Free T3. She wants to know where/who will do a Full T3 test.

I was told by all endos and GPs they would never test for or prescribe T3. But seeing on here some people are getting this - is it post code related or are people seeing a private dr? Many thanks

If I am taking T3 (Liothyronine) every day, would a Reverse T3 lab test give me any reliable information? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hi - those of use lucky enough to be prescribed T3 on the NHS: Does your endocrinologist test T3 and T4 or just TSH? I know too many just rely on TSH but to the extent that they don’t even test T3 or T4 when you’re on Liothyronine? I had a monitoring test that seems to only have been TSH.

She refused to do the T3 test so I have included the last one I had which was before I started taking thyroxine. My vitamin B12 and iron levels are fine. Vit d is low for me 92 but I am on a very high dose - 45000IU per week.

Telephone call immediatly to say I should have reduced medication to 1,25 alternate days and told to get another blood test. I hadn't had the message. I reduced to 1.25 alternate days for 2 weeks but request Ed a T3 test also. This week 29 Oct I have the blood test.

Does my T3 look Ok? This is my first T3 test. I’m still feeling quite poorly, have been in bed for nearly 3 weeks now and was worried that I had adrenal issues making me feel so unwell. The cortisol result is marked as normal but I’m not sure how to interpret it fully.

I took my T3 in three doses the day prior to test (10, 10 and 5mcgs) with last 5mcgs, 12 hours prior to test. I normally take t3 in two doses daily. 10mcgs early morning and 15mcgs in the afternoon.

Also - should she push for a T3 test to back this up? She actually has a face to face appointment on Monday - first in many years!

I usually have blood test to show TSH Free T3 and FreeT4 I have recently moved house and therefore doctor. I have just had my 2nd annual blood test with my new drs .

Hi all, I’ve managed to stay on T3 for a while now and I’m getting ready to do a thyroid test. I take two doses of T3, one around 6am with my Levothyroxine and the second T3 dose at 2pm. If I do my test 8am I’d imagine it’s fine as far as the Levo is concerned but is this gap OK for the T3?

I’m wondering if my adrenals have taken a hammering and if I should do a test. I’m still on 90mcg T3.

Hi guys 👋 I’ll soon need to take my first blood test after starting a combination of T4 and T3. I’m a bit confused about the best time to schedule the test. I know that T4 should be tested 24 hours after taking it, while T3 apparently should be tested 10–12 hours after the last dose.
