hi again my doctor lowered my thyroxine from 200 mg to 150 mg that was 5 weeks ago I’ve also been taking high strength biotin with zinc and selenium for about a week but twice now my eyes have swelled on the lids and underneath very red and itchy could this possibly be the biotin I’m fed up was just

Should I have followed the recommended protocol re time of day and thyroid/ biotin supplements for this test?

website says folate and biotin can ( as we know) alter results. I have continued with folate and B12 but stopped B Complex. Is this ok? Confused!

This was sent as advice from blue horizon, just thought it interesting them saying to stop biotin 8 hours prior to testing.

how many days before a blood test do I need to stop a b complex that contains biotin? Is it just 2 days?

I’ve only just found out that Pregnacare conception max, that I used for ages, contains Biotin, which can affect blood hormone readings when you have tests for things like thyroid function, and even AMH!

Hi everyone, am I right in assuming that Follate tablets do not contain Biotin and are therefore okay to take before a thyroid test?

hair s been thinning for a while now, could years of prednisone, aging etc but now on methotrexate noticing bit more thinning, been reading up on biotin, effectiveness, side affects, etc, apparently science claims wont necessarily help hair loss, and like various other vitamins not FDA approved

Hello, could you tell me how many days before having a blood test ( TSH, T3, T4) I need to stop taking biotin? I am taking a minimal dosage of 50mcg, but I don't want it to interfere with the test. Thank you

I know to stop biotin 3-5 days ahead of lab but have not read, if same is true for folate testing. Dr. Google did not have an answer. Thank you!

NHS Blood test didn’t test for vitamin levels but I take biotin, b12, vit D, & magnesium. As well as HRT.

My wife is having a blood test Monday and has stopped taking Vit B Supplements containing biotin. By the time the blood is taken she will have been off the Supplements for a week. She is taking Sublingual B12 and folate instead of the Supplements.

As advised, my last dose was night day before bloods were drawn and biotin supplementation was stopped for 5 days. Thanks Colin

In particular Biotin, Cod liver oil, and Glucosamine Chondroitin? I will enquire via RA advice line once holidays are out of the way. I did ask the training nurse for my Adalimumab but she didn't know or wish to direct me to take them. Hope you're all as well as can be?🙂

I've read you should stop biotin 6 weeks before testing for true cortisol reading and my SST is booked for 17th Oct - only 3.5 weeks after stopping biotin again.

I understand that Marmite contains biotin via the yeast extract. Does this mean no Marmite on toast for a few days before blood test please?

- I normally take a second 6.25mcg lio at bedtime - about 22:30 - I've been taking Throne Basic B Vit B complex and haven't stopped that - will the biotin cause an issue with the results? Do I need to do anything differently? Thanks!
