Here I go again
Absolutely gutted. I've lost a stone of the 2 I gained from being on steroids and have now been put back on them. The fat collar has already started as has the distended abdomen. It's soul destroying.

Hip operation and PMR
Hello All, I am on the waiting list for a new hip and have a pre-op assessment on 17th July. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long after this for the operation as I am in quite a lot of pain and only taking Cocodamol and paracetamol. I am 84 years old. Any advice re steroids before my op would be

methotrexate
I wanted to say thank you for all the really useful feedback and tips you sent me. I haven’t replied to all I’m afraid! I am going forward with Methotrexate in a couple of weeks (just had a Covid booster)and have agreed I will start tabs at 10mg and move to injections quickly if I struggle with digestion

hi all I am at week three of my PMR journey, and have been taking steroids at 15 mg then increased to 20, I am now taking 25 mg to see if that is any good. I seem to be improving in some ways. In other ways I feel I am worse. My hands and fingers are unbearably painful and I can barely hold a cup do

Started bleeding with BMs again.
Good afternoon, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis at the start of May 2024 via colonoscopy. Start of June , I had a bad flare up where I had lots of blood and diarrhea ( up to 12 times day) worse cramps ever. Finding mesalasine tablets in poo. Got admitted 3 days in hospital for dehydration and

Pregnancy and steriods
Hi everyone. Looking for some reassurance please. I am 19 weeks pregnant. I get awful hayfever every year which causes seasonal asthma. I have mentioned this to midwives and doctors - both NHS and private and all said no to antihistamines and didn’t provide any other options. 3 weeks later, I

PMR Newbie
I’m a PMR newbie that’s very relieved to be starting steroids today after blood test showed CRP levels 65 mg/l and painful knees, hips shoulder, muscular pain in thighs and upper arms last couple of months. It’s come on so quickly it’s hard to get my head around it. Hoping for great things from the

PMR symptoms and Steroid sensitivity and withdrawal
I updated my profile a couple of weeks ago as I am feeling that the PMR recovery plan is not working. I had about 10 days at the beginning of my 15 mg start on prednisolone of feeling that the pain was controlled. After that I experienced a low level of the previous discomfort. I was not advised about

Just a quick update, Endo appointment 👿
went to Royal Liverpool Endo dept , was hoping to see the consultant who is on TUK Uk list. Unfortunately this did not happen, the person I saw was less than helpful, see I can be tactful, sometimes. Introduced herself as diabetes consultant and she lived up to that name. The first thing she said

Had pulse field ablation April 15.
I'm 82. retired US nurse-anesthetist. I had the ablation for paroxysmal Afib April 15 ,It wasn't a difficult experience considering I am a high-risk anesthesia patient due to scoliotic restrictive lung disease and asthma. It only took about 1,1/2 hrs. (I have all the records on my patient portal.)

Medication prescribed alongside prednisolone
Hi, hope everyone is well. I have been prescribed steroids for my most recent transfer. Fortunately I was lucky enough to get a positive this morning on test day. I was prescribed lansoprazole a PPI to protect stomach whilst taking the steroids. My husband has gone to collect top up meds to cover me

methotrexate
I have been on prednisolone since last August for GCA/PMR and am getting down to lower levels (10mg). Rheumy wants to add methotrexate as need to get off steroids due to osteoporosis. I read all the leaflet last night and scared myself to death! Has anyone got experience to share of this drug particularly

Information
Hi all. I have had some bad attacks over the last several months when I’m in a crowded place and it’s noisy, so much so that I’ve had to leave the building. I think I know what causes it having completed a first aid course in 1976 but just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. It’s like a panic

Hand inflamation following PMR
Hi there, I suffered bad PMR for nearly three years, strating on 30mg of pred. Tapering down until about six weeks ago... maybe too fast towards the end, the GP put me on Naproxin. Aches and pains were fairly bad but a trigger finger has led to inflammation and paralysis to both hands. No one seems to

Hello all - 71 years old and hoping to run!
Hello all I did Couch to 5k 5 when I was in my mid-60s and loved it. I got to 5k easily and ran 2-3 times a week for about 2 years and lost a stone of weight naturally without dieting. Now at 71, I've got various health problems and have put on a stone plus from taking steroids daily for 18 months.

IVF transfer protolols (adenomyosis / endometriosis)
Hey there fellow warriors. I am agonising over IVF transfer protocols. After a year of batch stimming I am very fortunate to have 3 euploid blastocysts on ice ready to transfer. I have had five failed transfers (x2 miscarriages, 3 BFNs) and feel like I have tried everything already in terms of protocols
