Chemo allergies, blood transfusions, and constipation--oh my!
During my mom's second transfusion she had a bad reaction to the taxol and almost passed out. Is this common? They halted the drug, gave her benadryl, then resumed and she was able to finish the treatment. Is this common? And why would it happen on the 2nd treatment, not the first? Also, her labs came

Atrial Box stitched to my wrists?
I was in ICU way back in 2008 and never really concerned about why or for what reason these boxes were attached to my wrist with 2 stiches. From the scars they left I must of had 4 of them 2 on each wrist. They were smaller than a box of matches and had a sticker on it with ATRIAL nothing else? I

Had my op
Hi had my op yesterday. My consultant got me on his list the night before and first in. I'm so grateful to him. Had to put up with a bit of moaning while I was waiting., listening to all the staff moaning about me being first and even on the list in the first place! They must be silly if they think you

Graves, stomach acid & carb dosage
i noticed a post which mentioned low stomach acid with hypo thyroid . I have Graves and am on tablets for high stomach acid following an episode where I had internal bleeding from my stomach requiring 4 blood transfusions. Just beginning to wonder if this was due to Graves? I am now on 5mg of carb daily

Life Almost 5 years post Group B Strep?
I would like to first hope and pray that I do not scare or offend anyone. But, I would love to get thoughts, prayers, and offer advice help and guidance for others. On February 3, 2010 me and my then husband welcomed a pretty little girl into the world, and we named her Julianna. We were so happy

Do you know your blood group?
We may need blood products from each of them to improve our quality of life while on Watch and Wait as well as to possibly save our lives during treatment, by helping us recover from anaemia, boost our immunity (IVIG
transfusions
) or boost falling
platelet
levels. Neil

Is this the end?
Mum was diagnosed with OvCa march 2013. 3 bouts of chemo and attempted surgery (cut her open and then stitched her up (too much disease)) She then endured 9 more sessions of chemo (carbo and toxo) then surgery where they cleaned up inside but left the primary area still in!!! Was told she was in remmission

Sorry all, this is a long post by way of introduction and first diagnosis
Hello all, my name is John and I’m freshly diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, I’m still going through tests so I don’t know how damaged the liver is, but the prognosis has now been delayed due to two nodules having been found in my liver, I have had one CAT scan and one MRI scan but the nodules still

Still undecided on treatment
Hi everyone,am still in a quandary as to whether I should have both carpoblatinand taxol. Not sure my body would survive the side effects. My surgery two months ago left me exceptionally weak, with low blood pressure, anaemia, exceptional bowel problems, breathing difficulties, which led to my re admission

Blood Donors
Just realised I've got an appointment booked to give blood tomorrow - does anyone know if I can still donate now I've been diagnosed with COPD? I rang the Blood Transfusion Service but the lady I spoke to said COPD wasn't on her list of medical condition so she would get a consultant to ring me, but

Artificially produced platelets hopefully coming soon
One of the triggers for starting treatment is falling platelet levels. With levels generally falling during treatment, you need some leeway, so it is important not to put off treatment too long if they fall below 70. We can't boost production of platelets like we can neutrophils, so weekly transfusions

Most effective way to increase Ferratin, Vit C and B12 levels?
Would love to hear others experience. According to my GP I am not technically anaemic as my Hb is very good even though I have a Ferratin level of 10 A further test however also indicated that my B12 level is 215 so maybe borderline PA? I have tried Ferrous Fumerate and Ferrous Sulphate but both have

Fistulagrams
Hi Fellow kidney Patients, I would like to hear from anybody who has had a fistulagram. My renal consultant Dr Fluck said something that concerned me regarding risks associated with having a fistulagram. He told me that there is a risk that I may need a blood transfusion! I have had numerous fistulagrams
