Hi everyone, just had a message from Sylvi who reminded me she hadn't heard from me on here for sometime. Bless you Sylvi for your concern. just been extremely busy. Berry does his Grade 2 gun dog test on the 15th Sept so wish us luck. Don't know yet whether himself will do the test or me. will depend on how my shoulder is.
Our hols on the Isle of Wight got cancelled as my friend too ill to travel all that way following her knee replacement. Also I had an endoscopy done which showed up some minor problems and been on tablets to sort that out. A biopsy was also taken which fortunately did not show the nasty bug. I had my shoulder op almost 3 weeks ago under a shoulder block as not good with a general anaesthetic. Gorgeous anaethetist who gave me a mild sedative as well as the pain killers into the shoulder. Didn't feel a thing. Could hear a faint tapping which seemed to come from a great distance as my surgeon took out the overgrowth of bone. The anaethetist and I just chatted through the whole procedure - it's a wonder the surgeon didn't tell us to shut up so he could concentrate! I had a screen to the side of my head attached to my shoulder so I couldn't see what was going on. Only hear the murmur of voices from my surgeon and his assistant.
Shoulder is painful (apparently it is one of the most painful ops you can have) but as we cope with far worse with the RA it is not too bad and bearable with pain killers. It is worse at night as I roll onto that side which then wakes me up. On top of it all went down with cystitis earlier this week and now on antibiotics which is slowly clearing it up. Still rather shivery though.
My Rheumy consultant put me up to 25mcg of Methotrexate back in June which has helped a lot. Still also on the anti TNF but now my right foot has flared up and is very painful. GP said he would inject it but has to wait until the swelling goes down! I wonder when that will be? See the rheumy on the 21st so will get him to have a look at it and do steroid injection if he thinks appropriate. As we are on holiday the week after, I do want to be able to walk about and not hobble everywhere.
Anyway, hope everyone is coping more or less with this wretched disease and that you have all had a better summer (despite the rain!). Love LavendarLady xx

I am pleased to hear that you have had your shoulder done. I hope berry does well in his next test. I am pleased to see that you are still with and as i hadn't seen any blogs lately i was just worried in case anything serious had happened to you. I know having your shoulder done is pretty serious. Just glad that you have blogged to let us know that your okish. love sylvi.xx
So lovely to see ur name again and glad the op is over and done with for you. Hope you continue to improve. How brave are you having a block anaesthetic! And you still have the injections to look forward too, I really hope you get the best out of your holiday and have a great time. Lots of love A xx

My feet are quite sore too, although I have no swelling just pain, so assume its from damage already done.

You are braver than me, there is noway I could have had that done without being knocked out. Have a good holiday, not sure what the gun dog test is but good luck with that as well.

Lovely to get an update on you, I missed you but guessed you were busy. Us old crowd have given way to all the new girls, well not so new now, but it has been a couple of years, since we started on here. I have lots of news, and my life has drastically changed since early days, but is rather a long story. Siffice to say I am very happy, still have the RA, but am in a much better place now, and have ' Found myself' sorry for the Americanism, but that sums it up. I could write reams about the ankle pain, hip problems and general RA damage that has become apparent as time goes on, but sure I am still me, just creakier & more paced.
Thank you all for your kind comments. Been overdoing it this last few days and now suffering as both shoulders have flared up. The left one because I have had to use it more than ever. Taking a load of painkillers. Went to Sandringham Game Fair today - very hot and tiring and a lot of walking. The beer tent hove onto the horizon so was glad to sit down and get a drink. Did see some of the gun dog events - the main gun dog events were way across the show ground and too far to walk, We watched some of the scurry events - great fun. May well enter Berry next year. He is getting some brothers and sisters soon as his mum Millie has just been mated to his dad Bill. His breeder Julie is very excited about the coming event and if the new pups are as good as Berry and his litter mates, they will be very good.
Going to have a quiet evening tonight and hope I get a better night's sleep - with both shoulders hurting, it is difficult to get comfortable! thank god for Nurofen and paracetemol. Hoping that my rheumy will give me a steroid injection when I see him in 2 weeks just to calm everything down. Foot still very painful as well.
