Insufficiency Fracture - likely cause - Prednisilone
I saw an orthopaedic Fracture surgeon last week following an MRI on my right knee to investigate knee pain. She reported a small meniscus tear and a small piece of detached cartilage. However she also reported an Insufficiency Fracture in the femur which she thinks may have been caused by Prednisolone

Knee replacement
I have had one knee replaced a few years ago and now have extreme pain, bone on bone, in the other knee. I asked my GP for a referral and he said to try injections as there’s a long waiting list! (I’ve tried these before and they only offered temporary and not much relief!) Can I insist on a referral

Higgyandpiggy
Hi, I have had a TKR to both in the last 2 years. A friend lent me a cuff called a Cryocuff which compresses and cools the knee. It really helped. They are expensive to buy but they canbe hired. I was given crutches with special handles, designed for arthritic hands and they helped too. Everything

Total knee replacement
19 days post op - been very tough especially when COVID thrown into the mix! My muscle tone wasn’t great pre-op but is now nonexistent. Is it possible to build muscle tone with PMR? Without PMR it’s possible to build good muscle tone with regular exercises but no matter how frequently I do my post op

Why do i have a Resuscitation status section on my discharge letter from hospital?
I had knee surgery last week. Discharge letter had a section entitled Resuscitation Status on it (not ordered) which has never been in previous letters. On previous hospital visits prior to diagnosis of vasospastic angina this did not appear on any of my letters. Has anyone else seen this on their hospital

I am looking for comments on my decision to delay my total knee replacement until I am either suffering too much pain or my mobility becomes to restricted. I am 71 and suffered from arthritis in both knees for over Forty years. The right one has been the worse, until 2020. RECENT HISTORY 29 Jan

OxyContin
I received a kidney transplant 11 months ago and received a knee replacement this week. I know transplant patients are supposed to steer clear of NSAID. My orthopedic surgeon told me OxyContin would be ok for pain for a couple of weeks. I knew Tramadol wouldn’t suffice for pain. The Oxy has helped a

low immunoglobulins and knee replacement
I’m contemplating total knee replacement. My concern is that my immunoglobulins have sunk below normal range - but not low enough to start infusions. Has anyone else had to consider this? What recommendations were made to you? Did you go ahead with surgery? Did you have complications? So much to think

Knee massager with red light
Has anyone with osteoarthritis in knees try a personal knee massager with red light instead of knee surgery? If so did it work?

PMR again ?
I stopped pred on 8th October after 4 years and was OK until now. I have developed stiffness and aching in hips down to knees and am wondering whether the PMR has come again due to stress. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on 11th October and am currently on Letrozole to (hopefully !) shrink the tumour

A year down the line and no further forward
Hi all, I was diagnosed around a year ago with hypothyroidism after weeks and weeks of dieting and exercising like mad with no results. I was dieting to get in shape for a knee replacement. My GP did blood tests which she described my thyroid as being “in my boots”. I started on 50mcg daily and

Hi!, It's been a while. Anyway, here it is. First of all, I love my little sister. I always have and always have, but I need a break from her. There I said it. That was hard for me. Anyway, I share an apartment with her and her 2 daughters. We are mostly fine, but sometimes I feel like the "other

I had total knee replacement 11 days ago. What exercises should I be doing? Knee is v swollen, v painful! I'm trying to walk little bits throughout the day with crutches. Bending the knee is agony due to swelling.Seeing physio end of next week. They didn't give me any exercises when leaving hospital.

Total knee replacement - 6 weeks on
Hi Today is my 6 week anniversary of having my TKR on my right knee. I'm keen to start driving again and wondered if I need to get the go ahead from the physio first or what is the protocol? My understanding was that if you can do an emergency stop you can drive. I have an automatic car so I'll be
