Amylase levels?
This is a bit of a random one, but I was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers? Rheumatology requested that I get some bloods done, and one of the things tested was amylase, which I'd never heard of before! It came back high yesterday (about double the high reference limit!) and my GP was concerned

I have a diabetic question. I also have underactive thyroid
I've had type 1 diabetes since age 20 and now age 68 I'm being tested for insulin resistance. I did have pcos when I was a teenager. I'm also obviously using twice the insulin than I normally use for very little carbs. What's happening.

Nightmare Holiday
Well just a week off my 3 month check after my cryo ablation most of you know about on 30th April this year, and it's hit the skids big time. Stupidly Booked a holiday to lanzarote as I have been feeling so well, and been here a week today, though spent the last 4 days battling a cold, throat and chest

Thetford Parkrun - I cried
Well, after a week of silence from me, I have to tell you that I did my first Parkrun on Saturday, spurred on by my buddies and I watching the tv programme on Monday. Firstly, never go to a Parkrun with a cider hangover. It is not good. This was due to being in the pub the night before, celebrating

Long-term Metformin
Hi I recently read a report (I forget where, sorry) that long term Metformin diminishes vitamin B12 supplies and there was a recommendation that B12 levels should be routinely checked at diabetes reviews. Has anyone else heard about this?

Salpingectomy
Good morning, I had a salpingectomy to remove a hydrosalpinx on Tuesday. They also had to remove some adhesions in my uterus. We won’t be doing IVF as we already have one child. I just wondered if there were any success stories of natural conceptions after a salpingectomy? They say the other tube

Potassium deficiency
Has anyone had a potassium deficiency that didn’t show up in the lab results? Have you had a potassium RBC test and if so what was your result? The reason I ask is because I did a fast back in February and have had symptoms of a potassium deficiency since. Racing heart, weakness, thirst, basically everything

The Newcastle Diet : does it work?
If you're short on time, the brief answer is "for most people, no, not really". The longer answer is very interesting. Here's the summary of the 2-year followup, straight from the source: https://www.ncl.ac.uk/media/wwwnclacuk/newcastlemagneticresonancecentre/files/DiRECT%20-%202%20year%20results.pdf
