Hard run struggled to slow down
Every now and then I really struggle with my run. I was down to do a 4.5 mile slow run. I went out after eating 1/2 banana, a glucose tablet and a cup of decaf tea. I had my music in my ears and went off with hubs garmin as mine had no battery (I felt that way too). A mile in and I had to drop a letter

Vinorelbine
A recent PET scan showed some mild progression in the bones and liver so my oncologist is switching me to Vinorelbine. Has anyone been on Vinorelbine? Any advice or info about side effects that you experienced? Did your hair fall out? I'm coming off of carboplatin and taxotere, which was a very long

Beta Blockers raising A1c
Has anyone else gotten high fasting glucose and elevated A1c levels after taking beta Blockers? My doctor says it can raise levels by as much as 20 points. That’s the difference for me between normal fasting blood sugar levels and prediabetic levels. He told me I always have to take them to prevent arrhythmias

How accurate is your Glucose meter?
If you have taken your blood sugar twice or three times in a row without any delay in between tests, then you have probably noticed that you don't get the same exact number each time. That does not mean your meter is not operating correctly, but it does, though reflect the variance that is built in

Dexcom G5 or Freestyle Libre...is it worth it?
I've been seeing this new CGM (Continuous Glucose Meters) that plots and forecasts the blood sugar rise or fall in your body. The System is so promising but the cost of maintenance is really high. I hope they would think of other millions out there who has T1D with low income and is somehow incapable

Pcos and feeling lost
Hi this is completely new to me. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago (aged 28) and me and DH have been TTC ever since. When I was diagnosed it didn't come as a huge shock there are undiagnosed fertility issues in my family history. However I was never provided with very much information by my GP. We

Update on my husband
Hi folks Not been on for a while. Husband has got through his 1st cycle of chemo with very little incident - or so we thought until he went for round 2. His bloods were too low and they were concerned about his kidney function so he got sent away for the weekend, told to eat and drink more (which he

Diabetes, blame it on pred?
I have GCA and have been taking pred for three years, down to 10mgs now. I've just had a letter from my GP practice inviting me to ICS Health & Wellbeing sessions as my latest glucose reading (HbA1c/FPG) is 43. That puts me into the risky area, though at the bottom end of it (range is 42-47). I googled

Tsh and ft4 tests always fasting?
Hey guys So this is the second time my gp has done this - they've sent me away with a non-fasting form for my first retest of ft4 and tsh - I turn up at the bloods clinic, having fasted, telling them the form is wrong and they're pulling a face at me, obviously thinking "why does this guy think he knows

Could I have RA?
Hello everybody! I hope this is the right place to post. I feel bad as I see many of you are suffering and I may not even have RA! It all started back in early July when I woke up one morning, went to grab a bottle of water from the side of my bed and the grabbing action caused pain in my hand. It

Hydroxychloroquine and hypoglycaemia
Most people here are thoroughly bored of my tale of chronic exhaustion and episodes of sweating, flushing and nausea. I've had referrals to cardiology and neurology, as well as my usual rheumy and respirologist. None can explain these symptoms. Meanwhile, I have continued to be convinced that the explanation

2 blood tests and I've been asked to come back for a 3rd time - to see if the ones that are 'borderline and low' have sorted themselves out.
So I went to my locum complaining of extreme lower back pain and fatigue etc. I have hashimotos and Endometriosis. I had blood tests done 2 weeks ago that showed 'lower than normal levels or borderline' for my renal test, also my glucose had not been done correctly so I was asked to come back and get

blood test insulin level high
hi all I posted before about my blood glucose levels being high in the mornings and after meals usually between 8 and 9.9 but my doctor had said that my levels are completely normal. I was told in no uncertain terms that I am not pre diabetic, diabetic or insulin resistant in any way. I have to admit
