Hello. I've not posted in a while. Just had (another) US guided FNA on nodule (left side) - am waiting for results. Separately, GP referred me for these blood tests (I fasted even tho he didn't mention whether I needed to or not):
Cortisol Basal Blood (COR)
Full Blood Count (FBC) F
Ferritin Blood (FER)
Glucose Level Blood (G)
HbA1C (GHB)
Non fasting lipid screen blood (NFL)
Urea, electrolytes & creatinine (R)
Vitamin B12 blood (SB12)
Iron Studies Deficient (TRSAT)
Thyroid Function Test (TSH)
Vitamin D level, blood (VITD)
I'll post blood results when I have them which will probably be early next week.
BTW, it's 6 months since my last bloods, those results & my queries are on a previous post, which hopefully you can see. (I can't find my previous posts but am not sure why - can someone confirm if they can see them please?).
I am waking in the night around 3am and therefore am exhausted most of the time and collapse into bed soon as I get home form work in the evening. Apart from ordering bloods the GP doesn't seem very interested tbh and twice in 6 months has pretty much ignored the list if symptoms that I have told him I am experiencing.
I've been reading various posts and am wondering if I am Hypo or on my way to being Hypo or whether I have Adrenal issues and would really appreciate some guidance.
I think I am going to need to get some private tests done, so knowing what ones I need to get would really help - can someone advise me please?. I'm unsure if I would need to have all tests done privately at the same time or if I can simply get some tests done to fill in where the GP didn't test., (eg Antibodies or Cortisol saliva test). I am feeling rather confused by all this but I know that I want to get the correct tests done even if I have to do that privately.
Thank you.

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. These test all from list above
DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results
Not sure if you were taking a vitamin B complex?
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
That's very intersting that you feel I could have Hashi's. I have suspected the same for some time, but am still trying to understand all the info and was wondering if I was interpreting the info correctly.
Can Hashi's cause lumps/nodules? (Mine seems to be left side only and is about 3cm).
Is a goitre the same as a nodule?
I have been supplementing:
Vit B. Currently taking daily Solgar B Complex "50" High Potency (B12 is 50ug). Previously took Biovea Vit 12 Complex 1000mcg.
Vit D3. Vitashine 25mcg (1000iu) cholecalciferol - plant based. Have been taking 1 per day. GP said I could take 2 or 3 of these a day - do you think would that be okay?
Iron. Biovea Iron (as ferrous biglycinate) 18mg.
Magnesium. Solgar Chelated Magnesium (to improve my sleep issues), not previously has test re this but GP said yesterday that he'd test it (am unsure - if he included it on the referral to Pathology - is Magensium test included in the list I posted?).
In anticipation of blood tests I stopped taking all the above around a week before the blood drawn, and Iron was a bit of a longer gap (due to not being able to get an appointment!). I will start again soon as have the private tests done.
Last two bloods were done as soon a Pathology opened , shortly after 8am, (and I fasted both times).
Thank you for the list. I have asked GP for these tests (6 months ago and this week), however the GP says he can't do them all.
TSH
- Has been tested this week - awaiting result (also see previous bloods).
FT4
- I requested this with GP but am unsure if it's included in one of the tests I listed in my post today.
FT3
- GP says he cannot request this test, and gave me a printout of his screen showing that he can't.
TT4
- I requested this with GP but am unsure if it's included in one of the tests I listed in my post today.
TPO and TG antibodies
- I requested this with GP & was told they only test TPO now, I told him I need both tested but no joy. (see previous blood results too).
Vitamin D
- Has been tested this week - awaiting result (also see previous bloods).
Folate
- Would this be part of the 'Iron Studies' that GP requested?
Ferritin
- Would this be part of the 'Iron Studies' that GP requested?
B12
- Has been tested this week - awaiting result (also see previous bloods).
I will request the results and ranges on a printout from the GP.
I really appreciate your reply and the time you spend helping people.
So do l need to get all the test you listed done at same time?
I think I'll probably pay for the blood draw if I can arrange that. I'll checkout where I can do that near me.
GP surgery receptionist confirmed today that they have received the blood results, and over the phone told me "everything is normal" - what a surprise eh? I'll be picking up a printout showing levels and ranges as soon as I can get up there tomorrow or Monday. Am seeing the GP Monday eve.
