Gluten ataxia??
Hi all, I'm after some opinions, hope you don't mind me asking. My mum has just recently been diagnosed with motor neurone disease, the name has been banded about for a few months now but after a mri they confirmed it. My mum is a coeliac, yet she still eats it like it isn't a problem, my parents act

Am I really the only one?
Hi everyone, I not sure if I asked this question before but I'll ask again! I've had the DBS Surgery about 1 1/2 years ago and since then I've been on NO medication since then. I'm very curious to know if anyone else is like me and had the surgery and been taken off all meds? I asked my movement disorder

Calf muscle strain ends Week 6 r2 early
My right calf muscle tightened during my Week 6 r1 and I've been doing lots of stretching, rubbing Deep Heat and foam rolling since. Unfortunately during my second 10-minute run today it gave me really hot pain and I had to stop running. I managed to walk the rest of the way back to complete the podcast

Weight gain !!
I have IBS and under active thyroid . I am on 125 of Levothyroxine. The thing that is driving me mad is my weight and lack of energy. I have been told to follow a Gluten free diet (my son is coeliac) which is mostly helping with IBS (not all the time) but I have not eaten bread, cake, biscuits etc

Just beginning Rytary
My husband was diagnosed with PD 8 years ago. He was experiencing severe cramping which would incapacitate him at times. We went to a new doctor today hoping to find out about deep brain stimulation. While we're waiting for all the "boxes" to be checked for the surgery, my husband will begin taking

Test Results But No Diagnosis, Just Prescription
Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and looking for advice or suggestions on how to get my doctor to do more to help me. Two weeks ago I had my TSH and FT4 done at my request by my PCP and after receiving the results I requested additional tests. I was first denied because they said my results were in

Professor Graham Hughes' Monthly Blog May 2016 (thyroid is mentioned several times)
Dear all, enclosing the latest blog from Professor Hughes' who as well as being pretty forensic about unearthing Hughes Syndrome/APS - Sticky Blood - Antiphospholipid Syndrome, also does actively investigate the patient for any hint of thyroid problems and other conditions related, especially autoimmune

Professor Graham Hughes' Monthly Blog May 2016
Monthly Blog May 2016 I receive daily emails regarding Hughes syndrome. This week, one example from Kazakhstan: “Dear Dr Hughes…since the number of patients with Hughes syndrome in Kazakhstan is big, some of them are just weird.” The word is spreading. In the UK a new initiative to help spread information

Gluten blood test
I was tested for gluten, the result was negative. I have since heard that it should have been a fasting test it wasn't , also I had tried a gluten free diet and I felt much better. Before the test I went back on gluten for three . Would that have been enough time. The test did show that I needed

Does gluten free diet lower TSH levels?
I have Hashimotos and after advice from this forum, I have been taking 5000mcg of vitamin B and also B complex. I was advised to take it for 6 weeks, but have probably now been taking it for about 10 weeks and don't want to stop as I'm feeling so much better. Is it ok to continue for a short time longer

Got the results back
I would be grateful for any comments on the XaERu and Folate below. I don't think that the XaERu is anything to worry about, as I believe that someone with liver disease has a very high level, but I don't know for sure. As for the Folate deficiency I have no idea. On a plus note the Gluten free diet

First post-grad run postponed - uh oh, dodgy hip :(
Uh oh, not sure the graduation sprint finish was such a bright idea... Since Sunday night have been suffering with a touch of niggly hip and upper thigh/groin pain, especially when climbing stairs or after sitting at my desk for long periods. Was due to run today, and I really, really want to, but
