Weight Loss, in a positive way
Unlike a lot with PD, I have had major issues losing weight. Pre-PD I was at 190lbs and maxed out at 230lbs before I started making some major changes in my lifestyle. I am not on any prescription drugs and have been very lucky to control most of my issues with supplementation. In the past, exercise

PD Dialysis - Week 5 - Training Day 2
Today, my PD nurse hooked me up and filled me with 1200ml of PD solution 2.5 today and I was to "Dwell" for 4 hours. She checked the TB test she did yesterday and it is looking ok. She also had me to bring my vaccination and immunization records that I keep on a card at home as well as my Covid immunization

PD Dialysis - Week 5 day 1 - training begins
So today, I drove to the Fresenius dialysis clinic for my first day of PD training. Last Wednesday, since my training had been put off a week waiting for Baxter supplies to come in, my PD nurse had given me an iPod with the PD training modules pre-loaded. But I discovered that after I had logged into

Does anyone have experience of using a cpap machine to remove CO2 in someone who has servere COPD? My husband has just been told he must wear one at least every night as his oxygen levels are low and he is retaining CO2. He us trying it but finding it impossible to sleep and is not too keen to continue

Food when on PD Dialysis
I haven't really seen this but what all do you eat? I'm not yet there and at 17% I'm mostly eating plants. So if I was on PD can I eat what I like while sticking to healthy food but what about high potassium foods like potatoes, tomatoes, cantaloupe, bananas and the like? Since I am taking meds for

Pressure along diaphragm
Hi guys, I just have a quick question for those of you who are getting low on your GFR like myself (12gfr) not on dialysis, have you ever experienced a sense of pressure in your abdominal area just below your diaphragm? Along with this, the bottom of my sternum where my xiphoid process is along with

PD Dialysis - Week 4 day 3 - approved for shower!
So, since my official PD training got put off till next week, my PD nurse had me come in today for another dressing change and "flush" of my pd catheter. She did not do the "sterile" setup for this, just the "clean" set up that included the extreme hand washing techniques and she did use clean gloves

PD Dialysis - Week Four Day Two Baxter site issue
So my PD nurse set me up an account with Baxter, the company who will supply my cycler (Amia) and the PD solutions and other stuff. Baxter sent me an email with my account username and asked me to create a password and a security question. I did all that, then was taken to the page shown in the first

Queen of hearts
Yesterday my folks celebrated their ❤️50th wedding anniversary❤️ and I got an MRI to see if I'll need one kidney out and an adrenal gland removed that have a mass on them. I'll find out Monday morning. I already found out an ovary needs to be removed. It has a cyst on it. If they remove a kidney I will

The mother of all flares!
I have been having my worst flare ever in the 10 plus years of PMR. I have increased pred to 22.5 from 11 mgs and it is still not yet fully under control. I wish I had increased my dose more quickly but I had no idea it was this bad. I don't usually have blood tests for CRP but this week it was 43 and

Urgent-start peritoneal dialysis
Interesting info I had not seen before. Not sure I would wait till this is required, but for folks caught off guard, it might be an option. https://www.healio.com/news/nephrology/20220306/speaker-urgentstart-peritoneal-dialysis-feasible-costefficient-with-support-system

Hoping I'm not alone...
I was rushed into A&E when I was away from home on a weekend trip for Easter (17/04/22) and was diagnosed with necrotizing pancreatitus. I remember being in the bed in A&E and them saying I needed to stay in a few days. Fast forward to 02 June 2022 and there I am surrounded by strangers in ICU unable

Getting grief from my employer
I have worked in a small business for 10years. I have been very open about my condition from the time I was diagnosed 7 years ago. To be fair to my employers they have beenfairly decent regarding hospital appointments etc. They still expected me to do the job and more, without making any allowances

Dialysis Centers
So because of RonZone's "blog" posts on his journey, and many others here with their stories of PD I'm more convinced that is the way I would like to go when the time comes (hopefully not anytime soon). So looking around at Dialysis Centers near me I've found there are two businesses that offer dialysis

Live donor results. How long did you wait?
My husband was tested 9 weeks ago to see if he was suitable.I asked my dialysis nurse in Tuesday if there were any updates. She sent an email to the transplant nurse asking for any information. My husband received a voicemail yesterday at work. The transplant nurse laughed as she said, she thought
