Transplant Journey outcomes/advice anyone?
Hi, I have had CKD for several years and declined dramatically over the last 6mths -1yr and was actually started urgently on dialysis in July when my GFR dropped to 3 and creatine was 12.43. I had already had a consult and was added to a wait list for kidney transplant in early February of this year.

Diet book for PMR - anyone know of it?
Has anyone tried this book? It was recommended by my local pharmacist, a young guy that did a his university thesis on PMR. ( He also does a lot of research into CPAP machines having suffered a heart attack at age 28. It was discovered he had severe sleep apneoa). He's helped me a lot with both. Title

Beginning Peritoneal Dialysis
So my journey begins. I had surgery this morning for placement of my PD catheter. All in all, the experience hasn't been bad at all. They used general anesthesia, so I don't remember any of it after they gave me the happy juice. I barely remember my driver leaving the hospital and pulling into the driveway

ICU stay
I was admitted to hospital at the end of April after months of nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and fatigue. I remember the ambulance but not entering the hospital. I was placed in an induced coma and ventilated for five days due to extensive brain swelling, respiratory distress, suspected abdominal sepsis

I'm have stage 4 CKD. My current blood test showed my GFR at 16% function. Thankfully, I have been approved by my transplant team for a transplant once my GFR reaches 15%. Even more amazing is that I have a living donor that has also been approved. Now my neph ( my regular neph, not the one on the

Lumpectomy and CKD with eGFR 23%
I am due to have a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removal using radioactive dye. My eGFR is only 23%. After the operation I am due to have radiation therapy. Has anyone else had this done and do you know if the radiation or dye will lower my eGFR of 23%. I am very worried at the moment as I don't

Increasing liquid intake while on dialysis
It is over ten years since I received renal dialysis and ninety years since I was born. I owe my life to Guy’s Hospital - and to myself and, I suspect, to someone’s prayers for my experience is considered almost miraculous. At one point I was given thee years to live and my daily urine output barely

Max UFR Rate in HD-Dialysis (3.5 Hours)
Can I ask you that during my dialysis, after a while they (the nurse or technician) always increase the UFR, and I figure out will be higher than the CMS guideline 13/ml/kg/hr, sometimes even 18/ml/kg/hr. I am afraid that Myocardial stunning could be happened. Kindly pls advise. TKS again.

Sleep Help Needed
Hello Friends, Following my transplant in 2017, I have developed a rather big challenge in getting a full night's sleep. Very rarely can I pull off 7 hours. Mostly the average is less than 5 hours per night. I have read how this is a common challenge for transplant recipients. I also use a CPAP

PD Dialysis - Week 6 - Houston we have a problem
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE IS MINE. DO NOT ASSUME YOU WILL HAVE THIS EXPERIENCE! DO NOT TAKE IT AS NEGATIVE TOWARD PD DIALYSIS. I wanted to post this addendum at the top to let folks know that doing manual PD revealed an issue with my back that had been hiding in the wings. I doubt any of you will
