Korsuva
My husband on dialysis is still suffering from rash and severe itching for months. He has tried every creme, prednisone in high doses, oatmeal baths, etc...Nothing helps except ice packs for a short time.I read that the FDA approved the drug Korsuva for treatment of CKD-aP but I can't find with research

The over price of drugs due to patent manipulation.
This article hit home when I recalled a problem I had with a drug I took while on dialysis. I had been taking a generic form of the drug for months and then I went in and it was no longer available . And the only option was a non generic at a very high price. The pharmacy had no answers why. So I did

How high is high phosphorous??
I just got labs back. I was happy to see the crazy good numbers. Even with 2 hours3 days a week. only. MY creatinine went down from almost 7 to 5.89. My bun, pth, potassium all went down and are in range. Calcium in range. Glucose in range. A1C 5.3. the only number that was bad was phosphorous which

The Black Hole
Anxiety is off the charts-depression on top of that makes for very uncomfortable existence. Mom is actively dying with hospice & family at bedside-it will be anytime. I'm worried about weather/snow/ice & traveling to where she's at(we are in 2 diff states)b/c I need to make funeral plans & all that goes

Dialysis Side Effects
My husband recently started (Nov 23) dialysis treatment at a community clinic. He has hypertension, so is medicated for that too. He's struggling to hold bowel movements, terrible restless leg, struggles sleeping, always thirsty, lethargic and recently, he has started vomitting more often, even the evening

What is naturopathic nutritional therapy?
In 2012, after 3 years of study at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London, out into the world I went, as a newly qualified Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist. A time when banking and a daily commute from Crystal Palace into Canary Wharf, in London, were still the mainstay of my fabric, but not

Finally, off DA but perhaps not for much longer
I am 64 years old and after 22 years of taking the DA Mirapexin, I took my last quarter tablet on July 7th. However, after three weeks of sleepless nights, I may have to start taking them again, which is a depressing prospect. All my bloods (e.g. iron panel, B12, etc) are fine. I started taking pregabalin

when to begin Dialysis?
my husband’s eGFR is at 13 and Cystatin C At 9.45. His Dr wants him to start dialysis yet he doesn’t want to, naturally. He says he doesn’t feel bad yet I think he has felt bad for so long that he doesn’t know. My question; can he wait a little longer? Drs fear a big ER event. Not sure if they are

Clinic Nurse Deliberately Shortening Treatment Time - What can I do?
Hi, everyone! My mom has been on dialysis for about two years now, but she just started at a new clinic (DaVita) in Virginia. My mom suffers from very low blood pressure during and after treatment, so we’ve found that a slower, more gentle, and longer (4 hour) treatment works best for her. When she

The dialysis journey continues at home
Here is my latest on my journey in home hemodialysis. I started this process on October 16th. And we came home on December 18th. Many people get home faster but I had issues with a couple of weeks of when they infiltrated my fistula (poked through it and I was bleeding internally). The problem was the

Just diagnosed last night but doc still needs more labs to know more etc. a question that has come up for me while I’ve been researching is how do know what stage I’m in? The doc didn’t mention that last night when he told me the news. Another question, I’ve read

My 88 y/o mother has a GFR of 15. It dropped from 29 in November to 15 in December. Doctors said she was ready for palliative or hospice care. We do not qualify for hospice care because every time someone comes out to do an eval, she appears fine and says nothing is wrong. Most days though she has horrible

Positive results after five months
I hope it’s ok that I share my good news? I finally went to the hospital to a nephrologist - 6 months after realizing I had CKD stage 3.. my eGFR was about 50-53. No other symptoms.. My doctor showed me my test results that went way back - and they showed above normal creatinine and below normal eGFR
