Interesting article on the benefit (or lack of proven overall GFR benefit) for drinking a lot of water for kidney disease pre-dialysis: https://jasn.asnjournals.org/content/19/6/1041 Personally I do not drink that much water (just normal when thirsty) at this point (eGFR 9.2) because I fear that once

Phyllocontin Withdrawal. / Uniphyllin Continus
Good afternoon all. This is my first post so apologies if it is inappropriately placed. Does anyone know ? Why Phyllocontin was withdrawn ? I have only heard 'no longer commercially available' but would like to know more. Whether there is any research available on the impact of the withdrawal of Phyllocontin

BK virus and Low WBC
Hi - my dad received a kidney transplant about 4 months ago and at first everything looked great. But recently it showed he had the BK virus. First they lowered his CellCept dose and two weeks later the virus had increased. So they removed CellCept completely and his virus levels were coming down. However

Traveling to Venice, Italy
Hello, I am traveling to Venice, Italy in October and have exhausted all searches for locations for hemodialysis. Nephrocare, Davita and any other sight that talks about overseas travel does not list Venice as a dialysis location, which cannot be the case. I am hoping someone can give me the name of

Hello everyone, I hope you guys can stand a less serious question. I've been on hemodialysis for the last year and a half. I received Vancomycin, which saved my life but took out my kidneys. So one day no kidney issues, the next day dialysis. That actually has nothing to do with my question, just

Low or very low protein diets. If you've no uremia, will you obtain any benefit?
I had uremia at CKD3a/b (uremia =higher levels of urea than there ought to be present in your blood). I was at 13.5 when the normal range is 2.5 to 7.8 (thankfully, I'm now at 6.4 due to diet). Because I had uremia at CKD 3a/b, I assumed everyone else would have some sort of uremia at CKD 3a/b. When

Hello everyone! Is it normal to feel anxious, stressed and just freaked out when you've been told you have a living donor kidney coming to you? I am stage 4 and have never done dialysis. Creatinine averages 3.50, GFR averages 18. My concerns are for the quality of life and the side effects of the

I was diagnosed with afib only one time during a routine checkup. It was never found again. I even bought an afib detector that I test myself 3x a day. I have never had any symptoms. With that said, I realize afib is a progressive type of issue. In view that I have great cholesterol numbers and nothing

Diagonized with stage 3 ckd. Creatinine level is 2.32 on a low purine diet, low potassium diet. Should I get married?
Should a ckd stage 3 male patient get married? What are the complications that might come? Will I mandatorily go to dialysis stage even if I follow full restricted diet? Age:32 yrs, male
