Low BP preventing transplantation
My husband had kidney cancer in each kidney 5 years apart roughly 20 years ago. He had partial nephrectomies on each kidney. In November 2022 he progressed to Stage 5 CKD and had to start dialysis. He has low BP and is medicated to keep it up. The transplant team reviewed his case and said they cannot

Dialysis also help with lung fluid removal??
Hello. My 86-year-old Father is the one on dialysis. He recently had pneumonia and evidently has fluid in 40-50% of his right lung. I have read that dialysis can help pull fluid from other body areas, such as the lungs, than is typically considered. Anyone had experience with this? Input appreciated

Hospital Acquired Delirium
My sister has Hospital Acquired Delirium and I don't know what to do. She will not eat. Her electrolytes, creatinine and BUN are all good on dialysis. They're afraid she'll rip a naso gastric tube out. Do I insist on starting intravenous nutrition? Can she get over the delirium? Her mind seems gone.

New patient feeling so sick.
I'm posting this for my (74 year old) sister. It will be long. I'm trying to be a good advocate for her. Sorry if I rant a bit. It's all new and scary. She entered the hospital 3+ weeks ago as an emergency having felt I'll and not eaten or drank much for 5 days. She was diagnosed with complete kidney

Hi all
This is my first post here. I'm also a member of kidney disease hub. My eGFR hovers around 30 or down a few points either way. It was 39 then my neph, in Jan, had the new eGFR test and it dropped about 10 points. Now she wants me to think about dialysis. My question for you is 1) which did you

scared mum unborn baby 34 weeks with kidney and bladder problems and no amniotic fluid.
my unborn baby has so many problems with kidneys bladder and urethras. He has absent amniotic fluid. I’ve had steroids to help with his lungs. They say prognosis is not a good outcome. Dialysis, transplants etc. First thing will be to get him to breathe. Nothing was found on growth scan 4 weeks before

Considering knee replacement surgery but ....
I have stage 3B kidney disease with creatine of 2.0 and eGFR 36. I'm 74 years old and except for high cholesterol (which I've had all my life) and managing hypertension with Lisinopril, all my blood lab numbers are excellent. My main concern about knee surgery revolves around during and after-surgery

10 Year Anniversary
A few weeks ago I realized this is the ten-year anniversary of when I started dialysis. I started in August of 2013 in the days after I had a knee surgery. I was 14 years old. I'm now 24 years old. In the time since I started dialysis I started and finished high school, started and finished college,

Phosphate binder trouble
Hi everyone! Hope someone can help me with this question. My doctor put me on a phosphate binder, sevelimir ( hope I spelled that, right) and after taking it for a few days, it felt like I had swallowed concrete. I felt like my esophagus was going to blow up and my stomach pressure was unbearable. I

New Symptom or at least an exacerbation of an old one: pulsatile tinnitus.
Recently attempted another crack at taking T3 without too much success. In between times, can’t be absolutely sure exactly when, I have developed a new symptom I would like to check to see if anyone else has experienced similar. Two years ago after commencing with a new prescription of levo at 75mcg

sleep apnea and afib
According to monitoring with apple watch, my over night pulse rate often goes into the low 40s. In addition when I check in the morning I am often in afib. I have sleep apea and use a CPAP. Just wondering if anyone else has these low overnight pulse rates and any linkage to sleep apnea triggering afib
