Hello

I have been reading some old posts about this medication and ckd.

Is it really dangerous to take.

My gfr is 21 and I need to keep it stable.

I suffer with insomnia and it helps me sleep at 100mg per dose.

I also take quietepine 50mg and diazepam 8mg per dose

Added into that mix is mirtazepine at 30mg per dose.

I became very badly depressed when I was diagnosed with ckd in February of this year.

Prior to that I was taking zopiclone which I bet didn't help either.

Please I would appreciate some honest feedback - I feel now that I don't really have a chance of avoiding dialysis - my next blood test is due in Feb 23.

I am so scared now - what have those doctors done to me.

I know I have had insomnia for 30 years but I managed to give up the zopiclone completely only to have it substituted for something perhaps more dangerous to me.

My ckd was caused by HBP but could have been kept there had I been kept informed by gp.

I really feel cursed and am struggling to cope with life at the moment.

You are all so helpful on this site and I appreciate all your kind assistance - how do I get out of this now.

Thanks for reading.

Hello thanks for your reply - I can't sleep even with all those medications. Perhaps I am taking too many.

i can relate . in addition to meds for hbp ( which i was told caused my stage 3 ckd) i also take lorazepam 2 mg. 3x per day and ambien 10 mg. prior to bed each night. i was on citalapram 40 mg. per day but tapered off on my own w/out much problem. citalapram did absolutely nothing for me. mind you i have been on these psch meds for 18 years, long before i was diagnosed with ckd , 5 years ago.i also suffer from prostate cancer which only compounds my anxiety level. now my psychiatrist of a 17 years has retired and i have been assigned a new provider an np with psych background who wants to taper me off lorazepam and ambien and i am literally petrified.i am 70 yrs. old and feel i will not make it through a tapering or withdrawal of these meds. my anxiety level is through the roof. i say this because i know what it feels like to miss doses of these meds.i am reluctant to change health care providers because i have been with this health organization since 1975. i have a good primary care md, nephrologist and urologist who are familiar with me, however i get the strong impression that they do not want to get involved with the behavioral health dept.would like any feedback.

Hello - I really feel for you because these people don't know what its like trying to keep reasonably sane and function as well. They took me off zopiclone and put me on Trazadone which doesn't work. Its a real struggle - fight for your sanity please..

I am learning to meditate before bed and also write my worries down then so I don't have to think about them. And do a gratitude journal before bed too. Do a calming bedtime routine which may help. I take 50mg of trazodone at bed and melatonin 3mg which helps me. Talk honestly with your Primary Care and Nephrologist and work out a plan for your sleep and do it safely. At least ask them for a plan with your input for safe sleeping. Yes, by the way, I find this blog so very helpful as well. Happy Holidays and be safe and take care, BB
