Is Fenbendazole useful in treating CLL?
I'm relatively new to CLL, having been diagnosed a little over a year ago. I'm currently in a Wait and Watch status, but I've been curious about how we are progressing with treatments. In doing a little research unrelated to CLL I ran across an article from a man that had Stage 4 lung cancer and was

Alternative Therapy to Preserve Renal Transplants
I had a live-donor renal transplant 13 years ago, but I'm well aware that such transplants usually only last 15 years so I am looking for ways to preserve its function. I now take Renadyl, which contains microflora which have been shown in several scientific studies to reduce levels of uremic toxins

DIAGNOSIS today cll/sll
Got my "official " diagnosis today....even though I full suspected it. I will have a baseline ct scan the end of the month then see my dr in Jan 2019. We will do blood draws every 4 mos. WBC actually reduced from 42.6 to 30.9 in 5 weeks and absolute lymphocytes reduced from 32 to 22. Still high but

Recent SLL/CLL Patient Question
Hello. I found out I have SLL/CLL earlier this year at 31. I had Rituxan treatment shortly after since I have neutropenia I can't seem to shake. I will save this for another post. My lymph nodes are visible but not huge yet. Since I have 11q I have read it can become a bulky disease. Not sure if they

Antibiotics
Please be aware - be your own expert or use your clinical specialist service if you have any queries. I recently had a basal cell carcinoma removed and skin graft on my nose. I knew this was a possibility because of the immunosuppressant I was taking post transplant and had spoken about it’s possible

Gfr of 10 but feeling well - is this possible ?
Hi everyone. My son is 23 and only 4 months ago we learned he had CKD and his gfr was 20. Last week we were told it is now just 10. Aside from occasional tiredness however he is feeling totally fine. No other symptoms of kidney failure at all. Is this normal ? He wants to delay dialysis as long as possible

Feeling really lost and scared.
My husband did have CLL but had Richters Transformation to Lymphoma. He has been having Rituximab with Gemcitabine and Oxaliplatin. However yesterday his Consultant said his platelets are too low (50) to have the 6th and final planned dose. She does not plan to do a scan for a few weeks, has no other

Ibrutinib vs FCR: does order of therapy matter?
Time for a really specific question that is at the nub of the decision faced by doctors and patients when it is time to initiate first treatment. Does it matter which treatment we choose first? If you are a younger patient then clearly one of the critical issues is that sadly our disease is rarely cured

Gum growth after kidney transplant
Hi, I had a kidney transplant over 2 years ago and recently my gums seem seem to be overtaking my teeth and are quite uncomfortable and bleeding. Is this down to taking prednisolone daily as a steroid?

The Supreme Court acknowledges the value of patient support groups and empowered patients.
"...changes in society, and in the provision of healthcare services, should also be borne in mind. One which is particularly relevant in the present context is that it has become far easier, and far more common, for members of the public to obtain information about symptoms, investigations, treatment

Response and Survival Rates for FCR and Ibrutinib
Those of you who waded through my post yesterday on clonal evolution will be glad to know this is a much more simple one! I am going to break a statistical rule today but am in good company as the information below is based in part on a table found in the UK CLL 2018 guidelines: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com

Clonal Evolution, mutations and resistance to CLL treatment
When someone is diagnosed with CLL they have at least one clone of B lymphocytes that are growing faster than they should and/or dying less than they should. As a result we are diagnosed with cancer. But the illness may be slow growing, not even needing treatment initially, but may develop to a point
