2+ years on Ibrutinib and a question
I was diagnosed with CLL 15 years ago at age 49. Four years later I developed a Richter's transformation (Hodgkins) that was successfully treated. My early experience with Ibrutinib was nothing short of miraculous. The palpable nodes in my neck and axillae shrank dramatically. As expected, my white count

Weekend Wit - Cooperisms part 2
Hope you all have a good weekend :) Part Two You see I'm against hunting, in fact I'm a hunt saboteur. I go out the night before and shoot the fox. The other day I sent my girlfriend a huge pile of snow. I rang her up, I said "Do you get my drift?". So I went down the local supermarket, I said "

Idelalisib given front-line for treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia causes frequent immune-mediated hepatotoxicity
Key Points Idelalisib as upfront therapy for CLL caused an early hepatotoxicity in a subset of primarily younger patients with IGHV-mutated disease. Multiple lines of evidence suggest that this adverse effect is immune mediated, perhaps through inhibition of regulatory T cells. Full PDF http://www.bloodjournal.org

Mammogram follow-up - false alarm due to CLL nodes?
I had a mammogram about three weeks ago and they have seen something untoward on it and I have been called back to the hospital for an appointment. Could this be CLL related? I am worried sick.

Dr. Follows on the symposium where I spoke in Copenhagen at EHA
If you recall, a month ago I was in Copenhagen for the European Hematology Association meeting and I had the privilege to be asked to speak with a very distinguished panel of CLL experts at a symposium that drew over 1,000 hematologists. Today in our Conference Coverage section, I have posted a video

End of FLAIR. No more Ibrutinib. Great improvement!
I have been on FLAIR trail since November 2015, finished Rituximab end of March. Suffered side effect from Ibrutinib of severe muscle and joint pains. Despite reducing the dosage to the minimum these continued. So debilitating that eventually it was decided to stop the Ibrutinib completely. After

Two truths and a lie
Up until now, the only thing that got me nervous was when my little girls went out for the night, and of naturally, right before I say Worcestershire sauce. But everything's changed. Been diagnosed with COPD (truth), had to quit smoking (truth), telling everyone around me "I'm fine, it's all good,

Chronic fatigue syndrome?
Does anyone here suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome? Doctors are telling me it's very possible that's what I have but when I read others stories of having CFS the symptoms don't seem to match up to mine for instance I don't have the flu like symptoms or aching muscles my muscles are very weak but

Progress on ACP-196 Trial
Well, went in June for my better half's 3-month checkup. Everthing OK, bloods etc. Results of bone marrow biopsy really good. CLL down to 6% in the bone marrow. This is probably as low as it will go according to our Professor, but he is really pleased with that. All I can say is thank God for Dr

End of an Era (July 7, 2016)
Hi, Today, in another personal blog post on http://bkoffman.blogspot.com , I share the news of the official end of my allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant story that started 8 years ago and ended with a rejected graft and a quick relapse. I am officially now and probably have been for years

Does CLL begin neonatal?
Remember ...it is a long way from mouse to man, but an interesting study...
... A common feature of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is chromosomal loss of 13q14, containing the miR15a/16-1 locus controlling B-cell proliferation. However, CLL etiology remains unclear. [
