i am following lchf diet. mixing of carbohydrate say one chappathi at dinner etc may cause marked change in blood sugar.i mean our energy source is from fat and protien metabolism or glucose.metabolism will prevail?i am diebetic sincr 35 yeras aged 69 using 3 times actrapid and one time lantus with one tab metformin.
i cannot keep down my glucose reading without using small amount of insulin afyer lchf diet.

Most of us are T2's practising LCHf. While LCHF diet seems to be effective for T2D for most of us, even T1's could also benefit.( Ref: An article as per link below)
In fact you are not alone, all T2's may ultimately end up taking injectable insulin one day or other unless blood sugar is controlled. Added to this all newer oral medicines in the long run could end up damaging pancreas, Heart and liver and other organs.
Thr article as per link below says:
(1) In view of the recent finding that the saturated fat and cholesterol has no role in increasing risk of heart disease.
(2) Eating too much carbo with less fat would call for injecting more insulin and it is the Insulin toxicity which causes all complications.
(3) Therefore , the article concludes T1's can also benefit with LCHF with lesser amount of insulin.
All T 1's please get updated.
While I would request if any IDDM patients can throw some light on effectiveness of LCHF.
