Explainer: what are biologics and biosimilars?
Biologics are medicines made from living organisms and their products to produce therapeutic proteins and polypeptides. They are better for treating cancer cells than older chemotherapy treatments that just target fast growing cells, because they are designed to lock onto the specific body cells that

Goody...!
Susie has given me another kitten! We took Eilis in this afternoon 'cos she had one of her nails growing into the pad of her paw...Susie cut it off and gave her a shot of anti-biotics...it's horribly swollen and oozing pus. Was fine first thing this morning...amazing how quickly it turned nasty. Anyway

Leukemia Different types
Hi As a new member to this site and enduring CLL, have some simple questions. Are Hodgkin, non Hodgkin, CLL, SLL all DIFFERENT types of leukemia ? How does a haematologist determine what the patient is suffering from? If they utilise results from blood test, what parts are of interest to determine

COPD - Feeling cold
Hi everyone. My partner has been diagnosed with stage 3 COPD. We do not have good support from our GP so are learning as we go along. The last few days Peter has been extremely cold. There is no reason for this , weather is warm and warm inside house. Is this a symptom of COPD and if so why? I value

NDT fillers/binders?
If cellulose binds thyroid hormone, and sugar on the other hand makes absorption easier, why would Forest replace sugar with cellulose? I read somewhere that they wanted to make Armour more diabetic-friendly, but wasn't there any other filler they could have chosen, instead of cellulose? Although, I

Back from vacation
Well, my family and I just returned from a week of camping. It was nice. Had follow up with Dr. He said if I have COPD, it's probably mild, but he's thinking maybe some type of asthmatic component. Breathing still sucks... can't breath deep, only shallow. Changed my med again, now on Dulera twice

Checkpoint Inhibitors - the Programmed Death 1 and Ligand (PD-1/PD-L1) checkpoints and their promise for CLL/SLL
In the last few years, we've seen amazing advances in the approvals of safer, more effective non chemo treatments for CLL/SLL. That momentum doesn't look as if it will stop any time soon, which is a huge improvement on the situation of just a few years ago, when FCR was the only improved treatment to
