Concerned About Statins - Post taken down
Anyone know why that post was taken down? Last time I looked there was nothing out of the usual there. Did I miss something? I just got reply to one of my comments in my email and the whole thread has disappeared.

Statins
A Doctor at the Diabetes Clinic (I am pre-diabetic) recommended statins when I inquired about how to offset the tendency of Prednisone to raise blood sugar. I don't want to take them. Is there a valid reason why I should? I was diagnosed with PMR in Sept 2023 and I am currently on 12.5 mg of Prednisone

Another Cholesterol question
Morning All I have just read Soaping’s post about high cholesterol and TSH. It’s interested me particularly as mine is the same and the surgery are trying to push statins on me. Currently I’m hypo so I said I’ll decide when my Thyroid levels are optimal. The link given by shaws explains the

statins!
I am wondering if anyone else here is taking statins? I have resisted until now but have given in. However, having read some of the side effects I wish I hadn’t! I have permanent nerve damage to my left foot after shingles last year but am walking quite well now with a brace. I read that one possible

I have FH and been on statins 25 years. Am under Endocrinology as they were also looking at my thyroid. In the meantime in May I got rushed to hospital with sepsis and told I had a heart murmur which ended up with me having an aortic valve replacement. My latest blood tests show cholesterol is still

Wobbly in the morning
Hi 👋,I have been feeling very lightheaded in the morning with extreme body weakness and get wobbly. I feel better after a while but this can take over an hour. I found it difficult to get off the train and also the large gap made it a bit hazardous in this state. I am not diabetic. I have af and take

Statins may increase the risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
New Italian study [1] - which will be misunderstood, imo. The authors seem to have expected statin use to lower the risk of PCa: "... their anti-inflammatory features {statins} could play a role in preventing tumorigenesis." Instead: "Tumor incidence was higher among men taking statins, compared

My A Fib story
I was only diagnosed recently but here goes. About 2 1/2 years ago I had a major dizzy spell while at work. It was actually like the walls were melting. First Aider was called, I didn’t look at all well so they grabbed the Defib and called an Ambulance. I went to A&E and they said it was either

Will reducing hydroxycarbemide weekly dosage help with hair loss?
Hello everyone I have ET and have been taking 9 tablets a week for most of the last 18 months. My platelets have now been reduced to 390 from 695 at diagnosis. I hate the hair loss situation and asked my haematologist if reducing the tablets might help reduce the hair loss but he said he thought it

Confused and anxious
Hi In March I had a slight chest pain which concerned me. GP said all seemed well but referred me to heart clinic. After CT non invasive angiogram it was found I have severe stenosis in LAD, mild in RCA. Put on Samvastatin, Bisoprolol, Aspirin and Monomil. I told Consultant didn't wish to take statins

vitamin B12 high
hi , have just had my blood tests results back had to have them done because I take statins and metformin. My vitamin b 12 has come back at 746 which apparently is abnormal, as anyone else had high vitamin B readings when taking statins or metformin ?

Effects of coenzyme Q10 in early Parkinson disease: evidence of slowing of the functional decline
I've been doing a deep dive on mitochondrial DNA and the electron transport chain of the mitochondrial complex. I tested my mtDNA and I have a deficiency of the supercomplex II and III, this is a defect in the Krebs/TCA (citric acid) cycle. If you're taking statins you might want to reevaluate this

Strange interaction with Private Health System..?
I had an ecg which my gp flagged up as indicating some problem with my heart. They even sent a paramedic to my home to check I was ok. I feel ok, sometimes a but breathless, occasionally dizzy, but better now I am taking statins and aspirin.Anyway, I made an appt with NHS cardiology. Earliest was next

CT results / PFO
Hi,Having waited 9 weeks for the results of a cardio CT scan due to suspected angina, they have now confirmed there is no furring of the arteries or blockages. They have written to say I should stop the aspirin and beta blockers but remain on the statins. However, I am still left with a racing heart

upset stomach diarrhoea for a month?
I’ve had diarrhoea with stomach cramps for over a month now. Doctor has put me on Fodmap diet which has no gluten, wheat or dairy. I’ve done the diet for over a week now and I’ve got to be on it for 6 weeks. I’ve stuck to it. He gave me anti biotics at the beginning to rule out diviticulitis. It happens
