As an adherent of LCHF diets since 2015 I have been managing my Type 2 condition very satisfactorily. My readings have been around 120 until June 2019. I was trapped into a situation where I was forced to do away with my controlled diets for about a months’ time leaving me with readings around 160

Statins and lethal prostate cancer
I'm just putting this out there in hopes somebody can translate it for those of us with PCa and heart disease who need statins to control cholesterol and triglycerides. I have no clue how well-done the study is or how conclusive or how it fits in with all the other studies. The evidence for and against

The Medications That Change Who We Are - (i.e., Statins & Pain-Killers) - from BBC Future website
I'm working on a long post (maybe a series) about the relationship between cholesterol and PCa. With the recurring suggestion that PCa patients should consider adding a statin drug to their treatment plan, this BBC article might give some of you reason for pause. [i]" . . . Statins again
How soon do statins generally start causing muscle pain ( If at all). I've lived with chronic pain; FIbromyalgia , adhesions and neuropathy for years. I 've taken oxycodone for 19 years. Had Fibro for 40 years and the rest for 20 so it's really difficult to work out what's making me so much worse. I

Muscle tiredness when on Atorvastatin.
I’ve only been on Statins a few days but noticed I can’t walk as far as usual and have to rest a lot. Even doing things around the house is taking more effort. Will this effect lessen?

Holding off statins challenge 🙄
Hi...happy new year🥰 My annual check showed my nhs cholesterol level at 13 whatever that means but should be under 10 so I said I will seriously try to lower this myself as statins buggered my leg muscles up. Given me 6 months and if not lower suggest I try a different one, which I really don’t want

Prescribing cascade
Although not directly applicable to PMR/GCA probably a lot of us may have this happen to us. Consider, for example, a man in his late seventies, fit and active, “routinely prescribed” (like so many of his age group) a cholesterol lowering statin. Two months later, he consults his doctor with muscular

Bad reaction to Atorvastatin
I had triple heart bypass last June. I was put on the usual medication including 80mg atorvastatin. After about 3 months it was discovered that my liver counts were through the roof. I was taken off statins. Very worrying time. After more than 2 months the counts had fallen back to within the normal

Query re 1st annual review
Am coming up to 1st anniversary of HA in new year & expect to have a medication review with GP & associated blood tests. What blood tests should I expect apart from cholesterol? - Liver? Kidneys? Sugar? On the usual cocktail of aspirin, anti-platelets ( which will stop) betablockers, statins & blood

3 years ago I was taken into Urgencias (this is Malaga, Spain) with about 10 minutes to go and it was first suspected that I was having a heart attack but in fact I was suffering an arrythmia, with a heart rate of 230 (for 3 hours).
