statins
I’m currently not taking statins. My GP has just called to say we’d like to put you on them, risk of stroke at 15% apparently and anyone over 10 should be treated. I politely said I felt I had enough going on drugwise, without adding another. anyone else any experience of how this would fit with steroids

I’m type 1 diabetic, my whole cholesterol was 4.6 and my bad cholesterol was 3.0 Tried two statins didn’t agree with me, now went to lipid clinic, was put on Rosuvastatin which agrees with me, the only problem is my sugar levels go skyrocketing for a good few hours after i take it. This is concerning

Statins and Malcolm Kendrick's: The Great Cholestrol Con!
I saw Helvella's post regarding the article in the Guardian on NHS checks; I did post this elsewhere, but I guess would only be visible to folk following the original post, so I thought it may be helpful to post separately. Some on here may well be aware of this work: The work of Malcolm Kendrick

Long awaited/ Neglected review
Hello,, My name is Cat, I had a heart attack in 2018. I was put on the Gold standard medications, after having two stents fitted to my LAD. I had my cardiac rehabilitation and later reviewed . I was given the all clear. I started working full time again and then covid hit. Everything was okay until

My reaction to Crestor & Nubeqa combo. I need to make some adjustments. This study says simvastatin is best against APC. Your thoughts?
Based on these studies, do you think it's best to use simvastatin as your choice of statins? I'm using Crestor 5 mg plus 5mg Zetia and my ldl has gone down to a level, which puts me at risk of infection. Plus, my brain isnt functioning nearly as well as it used to. My current ldl is 27. This probably

Are statins essential if you are suffering from AF and/or past strokes? And how much is 'good'?
Just seeking some views on what constitutes the 'correct' level of statins to take in various situations. I have been taking 10 mg of simvastatine for six months and found this is no problem for me and it has marginally reduced what was a very low LDL cholesterol level in the first place. But my doctor

How long trouble-free?
I had NSTEMI in March 2022 (identified through raised troponin of 42). It was completely unexpected. Except for high cholesterol (Total 6.9, LDL 4.9, HDL 1.3,), none of the risk factors were applicable. There were no symptoms until one day I experienced pain on exertion. I was referred to a cardiologist

Statins and blood pressure meds
Originally joined the thyroid group and just joined the heart group probably a bit previous (hopefully) as I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The thyroid group are very anti statins believing that if the thyroxine dose is correct cholesterol will automatically lower. Doctor sending me

Statins and blood pressure meds
Just had an ecg at doctors that apparently needs to be repeated along with a referral for a heart scan. I have had statins prescribed the last two years or so and have never been keen to take them considering the advice on this forum. Doctor insistent that I start them again along with blood pressure

statins and high blood sugar
Hello. My husband has been taking 80mg Atorvastatin for a year now. After his yearly mot he’s been told his blood sugar is high, not diabetic but high. He was in hospital for 12 weeks this time last year and he was checked daily with a finger prick and perfect. I’m not sure what could have happened
