Allendronic Acid and Cholesterol
Telephone consultation this morning went as I thought it would. What dosage of Prednisolone are you on? 2.75mg I answered. So you will be coming down to 2mg? No, I taper by a quarter of a mg every 5 weeks. I will be tapering to 2.5mg. And so it went on! I am advised that I need to start taking Allendronic

Muscle pain
Good morning. I am getting pretty debilitating muscle pain in my core - around my groin and up above. I think maybe these are my rectus abdominis muscles. It’s strange because it has happened before and I don’t’ recall doing anything to cause it. It’s very painful, has lasted days and doesn’t seem to

Does anyone else experience constant anxiety about their health?
Last year I was experiencing irregular heartbeats that were keeping me awake at night. I went to my doctor who referred me to a heart consultant who arranged all kinds of scans and tests. The result was I have ectopic heartbeats and not to worry. Put on betablockers and statins. But I still worry about

medichecks results different from GP
I did a home test back in. March in order to get some information other than the GP test who wanted to reduce my Levo and put me on Statins. I take 100mcg daily and feel well on this dosage, when I was on 75mcg, I felt lethargic and not myself. The new results are CRP HS. 1.510 mg/L. (Range < 3

GP "has concerns about results"
Had a call this afternoon from GP surgery telling me “doctor has some concerns about your blood results and needs to see you”. First thing is panic mode then I realise that I've seen most of them with the exception of thyroid function. My TSH has come back at 0.09 (0.49-5.23) but T4 is only at 18.5 (11.5

Ibs and statins
Hi. I have had ibs for 40+years and now being told I need to take a statin. Can anyone tell me the best statin to take with ibs. I am wondering if ezetimibe would be better as I don't want to make my ibs worse.

Coming off of medication?
Hello, My husband (age 46) had a heart attack in December and had a stent fitted in his LAD artery. The surgery went well, all other arteries were clear, he attended the rehab programme and was coping well and was discharged. He’s on quite a lot of medication - aspirin, beta blockers, statins and ACE

Variations in serum creatinine 10% in 2 weeks
Hello, my name is Ionel and I am new to this forum. I have a chronic kidney disease, stable for years with creatinine 1.09 mg/dl. Since March, I have been suspected of having IGA nephropathy, I have not had a biopsy yet. I lose proteins, approximately 500-700 mg/24h, red blood cells 15-15 hpf. In February

Good evening from Spain Been a while since I posted, thought maybe time to give an update. Nearly 7 years post quad bypass, some may remember me as an early poster and advocate here from that dark period. So anyhow, had a check up today, all ok, bad cholesterol a bit high but I have been given new statins

Acne on statins
I have noticed that since being put on statins (4 months now and moved from Atorvastatin to Simvastatin) that I have developed acne. I'm 64 and the original reading was 6.9. Anyone else experiencing this? Your replies I thank.

Statins
Hi, new member here, 60yo. Cholesterol 5.1 overall, CT scan showed potential CAD - echo and possible angioplast to be done in due course. I've been told in no uncertain terms I have to take statins. I'm not overly enamoured about that as there seems to be so many varying studies; some say they'll give

Supplementation?
Hello all, I normally write on the thyroid site because I have Hashimotos, but today I am writing to the hearties among us regarding my husband. He has had two mini strokes in the past, one was called a TIA and the other was called a mini stroke. His first one was twenty years ago and the second one
