Pain in the buttock .................
It may sound funny but believe me it isn't, 4 months ago I had HA and have been on 80mg atorvastatin which I take at night, my health has been really good since, but this last 6/7 weeks the pain in my left buttock and down my left leg has been horrendous, cant sit, can't drive etc but walking around

Angina
Hi, I wanted to share my experience. In March this year I was diagnosed with angina, with two arteries severely compromised. My cardiologist gave me three choices, change my lifestyle, have stents or a bypass. His advice was to try lifestyle first and see him again in three months. I am no "health nut

Berberine for leaky gut and Parkinson's ?
Several months ago I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and have been looking for alternative treatments to anti arrhythmic drugs and surgical ablation usually prescribed for the condition. Berberine came up as a good alternative in some Chinese study https://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/2017/3146791

Experience with statins??
I know its ot exactly PMR related - but has anybody got experience of being on statins? My main concern is I think one of their main side effects is muscle pain - I just can't afford to take anything that causes me anymore pain? My GP just told me I need to go on it. Not a happy bunny!!!

Statins
After stopping statins do side effects get a bit worse before they get better. Was on 20mg Atorvastatin for several years. Already written a post but not sure if it went through cos I'd only just signed up.

Atorvastatin
Hi. I've been on 20 mg of Atorvastatin for several years and recently researched side effects, which just about covered everything I've got from non allergic rhinitis to peripheral neuropathy! So, I filed them in the bin then told my G.P. She's brilliant and said that was fine. Now what I need to know

Hello
Hi All I'm new to the group and suffered a heart attack at the end of April 2017 whereupon the excellent care team fitted 2 stents and put me on statins and minor [low dose] blood pressure tablets. I had issues with work, taxi driving and had to surrender my licence, to the local council, I only had

The ongoing failure of cholesterol "therapy"
There's a new drug on the market that's even more effective than statins at reducing LDL. Amgen's Repatha is to cholesterol what the Russian RDS-220 was to Fat Man: it absolutely obliterates your LDL. It is the Mother Of All Cholesterol Bombs. Unfortunately, it has no effect whatsoever on all-cause mortality

High Cholesterol diagnosis
Had diagnosis of high cholesterol early 2017 and got referred to the Lipid Clinic at hospital. I have been told my LDL Cholesterol is at present 2 times what it should be. The doctor advised taking 10 mg Simvastin or Ezetimibe. I am currently refusing this, as I have heard so much bad stuff about statins

Further Tests Reassurance if possible
Hi everyone, following my previous post about thyroid and high cholesterol my GP has agreed to further testing. My cholesterol was off the charts at 12.7 so she took further advice from the lipid clinic. They said that if I were to be prescribed statins (which I won't take) then hypothyroidism needed

Statins causing Cirrhosis?
Has anybody got any experience of statins causing their cirrhosis? My Mum has just been diagnosed with cirrhosis and the doctor cannot easily detect the cause from the blood tests and CT scan (and ultrasound) that she has. She is only a very light alcoholic drinker and doesn't take aspirin. She has

Statins post avr
I had a tissue aortic valve replacement in January. Saw my cardiologist yesterday. He said everything was fine but he wants me to have statins despite my total cholesterol being 4. He says it is preventative. I feel it is a bit over the top given that no plaque was seen on my angiogram

When will atorvastatin side effects subside?
I was taking Atorvastatin 40 mg every other day for about 1.5 years. My TC and LDL cholesterol was still high, so my GP said to take it every day. I started feeling fatigued, foggy, forgetful, and a had squeeze feeling in my feet and toes, like I was wearing socks. The right leg was worse than the left

STATINS WITHDRAWN AND FOLIC ACID NOW ADDED TO LEVOTHYROXINE
MY GP HAS NOW WITHDRAWN MY STATINS AND INSTEAD HAS PRESCRIBED FOLIC ACID ALONGSIDE LEVOTHYROXINE AND SERTRALINE - I WILL SEE HER AGAIN IN THREE WEEKS FOR A REVIEW ON MY SYMPTOMS - I TRUST HER GREATLY - SHE WILL THEN DECIDE WHAT WE MUST DO NEXT? THE KEY TO DEALING WITH THYROID PROBLEMS IS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

Stopped statins yesterday.
Hi I'm new and only just found this group. I stopped taking rosuvastatin 24 hours ago, after being on statins for 30 years. Late in the day but I'm just finding out how harmful they can be. The practice nurse told me that they needn't be tapered but gave no info about side effects or cholersterol level

Ha Ha - No Statins Available From This Surgery
Went to see the pharmacist for a review at the GP Surgery - She wants to talk about my cholesterol as it is creeping up, it is now 4.9, I wanted to say - well that could be because my Free T4 is not high enough - but I kept my mouth shut, I didn't expect her to understand especially as they only test

Simvastatin & Radioresistance.
New study below [1]. Years ago, when I had salvage radiation, I was not on Simvastatin, but I was by the time a lesion at L5 was treated. From the new paper: "These findings reveal that simvastatin may be a potent therapeutic agent for co-treatment with radiation to overcome radioresistance in PCa

Didn't take my Thyroid meds right and am very sick.
I don't know why I allowed this to happen, but I just a lot on my mind and did not adhere to to all the rules of taking the med effectively. I was taking Synthroid 225 in early morning. Sometimes, I would take it right after a GAs X or something like that and take it with food or other meds. I have
