STATINS and bloating
Since I have been on Atorvastatin my stomach seems to have increased in size even though I havent put any weight on. Is it true that statins can cause bloating?

The effect of statins on liver enzymes
I'm on atorvastatin and have been told that statins affect the level of the level of liver enzymes. Mine are all raised but my doctor has just told me to have another blood test in 6 months and doesn't seem bothered. But I'm bothered. Does anybody know if statins effect the level of ALT,AST,GGT and APT

Leg pain with Statins
Would anyone mind describing what your leg pain is like, that you think is due to statins. My GP doesn’t think what I have is typical. Many thanks.

Nurse review
went for my diabetic review with the practice nurse (I had to concede and come out of denial with a HbA1c of 70 and start metformin ), She gave me a bit of a stern word when I said I'd stopped my statin and said I was putting myself at risk of heart attack and stroke from the diabetes. She said I needed

The Cholesterol Myth
My dear daughter spent 6 years in Canada since returning to the UK she has become a strong critic of modern medicine and doctors. I was prescribed statins and when she found out she sat me down with the internet and showed me a video made by an American doctor who said there is no such thing as bad Cholesterol

Why is it still a minimum dose?
Why do GPs/Endos continue to just give the bare minimum amount of medication (hormone replacement/Levo) to folk when their TSH is clearly high - pituitary telling the thyroid to produce more hormone? Is it just ignorance? T4 isn't even expensive? Are medications for Diabetes, HRT, steroids for liver

New to hypothyroidism
Help! I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the end of February. I had been feeling ill for months but fobbed off by one particular gp. Eventually, another gp at the practise ordered a full blood count. I have not had a printout of my results as I didn't even know you could do this. I just know

Fatigue after stent surgery
My partner of 54 is 2mths post stent surgery. He is experiencing extreme fatigue which is so unlike him and it's really starting to affect his mental health. He's Diabetic T2, on Statins, blood pressure pills, antidepressants. We're thinking the statins could be causing the fatigue? Any advice would

Statins
Does anyone have troubles when taking statins (muscle weakness, dizzyness, constipation, etc)? Some years ago the medical gurus said everyone over 45 should be taking statins. Later they came up with “unnecessary statin taking”. On doctors orders I took them (after a slight heart query) then, again

Can someone explain this. Familial Hypercholesterolemia. I am very confused. After finding this website and realising that most of my Moms health issues may be from the statin she is on. I talked to the doctor and he agreed for her to leave it of for two months.and then have a blood test. Well she did

Lowering a High Cholesterol
Does Benecol really lower your Cholesterol or is just fake? It does say in “Clinical” study that it does? I don’t really want to go on Statins. Many Thanks James

Cholesterol testing.
Hi all does anyone know if it’s necessary to have regular tests on cholesterol levels if you’re prescribed statins? I’ve just been informed by my doctor once diagnosed there’s no point in re-testing because treatment remains the same regardless.

The $64,000 Question!
So... many of you know I went to see my Rheumy last Wednesday. It was a routine appointment that ended up with her draining, what appeared to be, a ridiculous amount of fluid from my knee and injecting it with Cortisone... I have a torn meniscus & Baker's Cyst. On Friday morning, an unexpected trip

I’m new here
Hi all I’ve been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism about 2 years ago and am now on 5mg carbimazole once a day. The endocrinologists that I see all say I should have RAI treatment and that I will most likely be left hypothyroid but not to worry as they can medicate me for that. I don’t see the point in swapping
