It all started with a purple toe!
I've had high cholesterol for more than twenty years and although I've been prescribed statins, have never continued taking them until recently when I developed a purple toe. The doctor was concerned it was an embolism and I was sent for several tests and to see a consultant. It appears from an ECG

Steroids, statins, strange query
I was put on 80mg Atvostatin mid Aug following a TIA/Afib episode and diagnosis. From mid September I started to suffer an intermittent throbbing, burning pain on the ball of my foot and last three toes. It comes on suddenly such as during the short 1 mile walk I’ve just completed. Bloods in Sept showed

Confused about Statins
I'm probably just ignorant re- the benefits of Statins, but, I'm a bit confused following an appt with GP practice Pharmacist. I received a text saying they'd like to discuss my Cholesterol and a medicine for improving my heart and kidney health. I'm still under the care of the Heart Failure Team, so

Statins and B12 deficiency
During a Lung Health check recently, lungs were fine but I was found to have coronary artery calcification- which meant that I had to see a GP. I do not know the extent or severity of the calcification. Her advice was to start taking statins. I managed to get her to request some blood tests first.

Afib Stroke Risk Lower in those that take Statins
Statin use is usually associated with a reduction of cholesterol and heart attacks, but a new study also shows an important additional benefit -- a significant reduction in strokes and TIA's in the Afib population. Something to discuss with your doctor if you're not already on statins, especially

Nerve pains in legs, feels like bees in my knees , legs and sometimes arms.
I am on Imraldi, Methotrexate, Pregabalin and recently statins. I started experiencing strange feelings in my legs in August, then I couldn't go upstairs left foot first. Checks showed nothing wrong. Next legs feeling heavy and going weak. I was checked again for back problems and again nothing found.

On statins and why I’m glad I said no.
Our local GP surgery recently put out these messages to their patients:- We are contacting you regarding your statin medications. There has been recent guidance about a very small number of reports of new-onset or aggravation of a rare condition called myasthenia gravis. Symptoms include drooping eyelids

Thrush from Trimbow worse at the end of inhaler
I’ve been using Trimbow for about 6 months now and it’s changed my life, however, I get horrible dry mouth and oral thrush side effects. Maybe I’m imagining it, but I’ve noticed that it gets much worse towards the end of the inhaler and clears up a bit once I start a new one.? Anyone else? I always

Statins - reports of myasthenia gravis
There was a short piece in the BMJ the other day advising patients taking statins to be alert to new symptoms for myasthenia gravis, or worsening symptoms of pre-existing myasthenia gravis, and to seek medical advice if these occur. It is quite rare, but thought I would let people know. The government

Doctor rant
I have been getting bad calf cramping, I believe from Atorvastatin. Talked to the doc over the phone and she agreed to stop them for two weeks and see if it is them. The symptoms subsided but didn't go completely so on Monday I took one. That night the cramps returned with pulsing in the calf muscles

Statins
I am in my 70s and discovered to have heart issues at a pre opp assessment for a bowel op. Cardiologist put me on Ramipril, Bisoprolol and a Statin prior to having an MRI and CT Scan. It appears I have a mild systolic murmur and an artery less that 50% blocked. Aspirin now added to medication.I am finding
