Can the thyroid affect the tongue?
I was borderline again last time and have a blood test end of Feb due to be discharged if ok but I think as I keep being borderline they're not sure what to do with me. As to whether my body is naturally on borderline as I don't really get many of the symptoms
Mild graves (Med free 2 years now)
Serum TSH 0.24 [0.3 - 5.5]
Serum free T4 19.8 [12.0 - 22.0]
T3 5.6 [3.1 - 6.8]
Only issue recently is feeling drained, but with me I am Bipolar too so there is the complexity of what is what....past few weeks I have been waking at 3am often but slept better past 2 nights.
Issue is my tongue, I was very run down over xmas, I think a chest infection rather than covid but my tongue went white and they said it was oral thrush. I used nystatin and it didn't clear so it was only this week I went back and saw a GP rather than advanced practitioner and she says Leukoplakia and to have vitamins, blood, folate, and iron tested!
(Anyway I have successfully managed that vitamins test they would never do LOL)
But can the thyroid affect the tongue, it looks furry and horrible and I've just started a new relationship it's making me paranoid but if it was contagious she would have said right?
I'm just feeling poop about it Or maybe it is covid tongue and I really had covid!
Also doc confused as I don't smoke, hardly drink so why would it be Leukoplakia, google says this is often seen in people with HIV!
