Thyroid hormones have pre-renal and intrinsic renal effects by which they increase the renal blood flow and the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Hypothyroidism is associated with reduced GFR
I was given various brands of levothyroxine. All were the same, even liquid levo. Even asking GP to specify a particular brand didn't work, because then pharmacy said they couldn't (or wouldn't) get it. So, no choice. This happened a few times. In the end, I stopped asking.Again, since being on liothyronine, I've had Roma, then a different one, and now, Mercury Pharma. TBH I haven't noticed any difference between brands. The only time I notice any difference is when I have an increase in dosage. Not necessarily instant, because I wonder about placebo affect, but after a few weeks, I see improvement in ability to do basic things, like going to bathroom etc. Bit graphic, but when on levo, couldn't walk to bathroom without holding wall.
Thankyou for your reply. I think I need more T3 but endocrinologist won't increase due to TSH!!!!!! Regardless of referring to research regarding dosing, and TSH levels, and optimal vitamins and minerals, she shut me down, saying she had studied and spent years at university etc, etc. So she was most qualified.I'm glad other people find T4 a no no.
I know I can self-medicate, but, trying to exhaust NHS first, then self source hopefully.
