3rd Chemo session complete
got my 3rd Taxotere infusion Tuesday, so far only noticeable side effects is dry mouth this morning. Tomorrow I'll probably feel worse, but so far so good. PSA down to 0.61 , a good drop from 1.78 three weeks ago. Alkaline phosphatase down in the 'normal' range now, 98. The day my urologist gave me

Study on bone ALP as a marker for bone metastasis in PC?
Can anybody point to a study showing Bone alakaline phosphatase to be a marker of bone metastasis in prostate cancer? It would be helpful to have it to get my primary care doc to write me a prescription for such a test since that is needed here. I find studies indicating ALP (not bone-specific) being

2nd chemo session done
just went through my second Taxotere infusion Tuesday. so far so 'good' I guess, no appetite and anything I do eat tastes like cardboard. Tested positive for Covid on Dec 23 and my hair started falling out on Dec 24, not from Covid but from the first round of Chemo. Covid gave me a fever of 101 that

Help me understand my dad's bone scan, please!!
Hi guys! So, my dad had a bone scan after his fractionated bone alkaline phosphatase levels was slightly elevated. The bone scan results came back and I'm confused! I'm going to take a scream shot and post here.. I was wondering if anyone could help me decipher what this means? My dad had a CT earlier

Slightly elevated bone fractionated alkaline phosphatase with decrease PSA and steady calcium levels.. bone metastases or from recent fall?
Good morning! It's been a while since I've asked a question here because (thank the good Lord) things have been pretty steady and good on my dad's end! So, I've been enjoying the ride! However, that ride has hit a couple of speed bumps and I'm wondering if someone could give me some insight? So, my

To treat or not to treat: is it acceptable to avoid active therapies in advanced prostate cancer today?

Statins & ALT
Good Afternoon, I’ve just had my latest blood results back and it seems my liver enzymes are raised, particularly ALT & Alkaline phosphatase. I currently take atorvastatin & ezitimbe and my cholesterol is 2.1. I’m wondering if the statins are causing the increase in enzymes even though I’m 6 years

High ALKP (Alkaline Phosphatase) - is it a result of Renal Failure?
Is high Alkaline Phosphatase )ALKP) cause by renal failure, or possibly if one has a high ALKP - this may be the reason for the renal failure? What is the danger of high ALKP and how can it be prevented with severe renal failure (not on dialysis yet). Thanks!

Is Xofigo a good option for extensive skeletal mets?
I finished my Docetaxel treatments after five of six rounds. They decided against the last one because of increasing numbness in my feet. I am still on Firmagon. My bone scan done last week showed a slight improvement in a couple of bones, but overall, not much change. At least there was no increase.

Capsules
Walmart changed my capsules from Watson to KVK-Tech. They are pink and white with K-237 on them. Is anyone else taking these? If so any problems ? I had been taking Watson brand for the last year and for the first time in the 3 years since diagnosis my Alkaline Phosphatase was finally in the normal range

I was diagnosed in late May with stage metastatic with extensive mets in my skeleton. My PSA was 819 and my alkaline phosphatase was 1300 or so. Yesterday, I had my 5th chemo with Docetaxel and my 4th Firmagon treatment. My PSA has dropped to 0.9 and my AP is 113. I have no pain. I have one more treatment

Metastases/Metastasis on ribs?
Yesterday approximately two hours after lifting weights and jogging two miles, I developed a pain in the lower left area of my ribs. The previous day I was forced to do some strenuous lifting. My rib is very tender to touch however I can take deep breaths without discomfort. I have never had a metastasis

I saw my doctor last week and for the second year my alkaline phosphatase levels have been low. She suggested I'm not getting proper nutrition. I was just googling and it is associated with hypothyroidism. Does anyone know anything about low levels and what that means? I read it is associated with

Questions to ask at new consult tomorrow AM (and future ones)? Also info on clinical trials? Other MO's you like?
Hello and thanks, I'd love to improve my list of questions for consult. I've researched hard, but value your input, wanting to do best. Husband Barry has mcrpc, diagnosed last August, Gleason 9, extensive bone mets on diagnosis and spreading (all over pelvis, spine, ribs, a little on femur, humerus

High Testosterone after one month Leuprolide shot
My dad went to his first blood control one month after his first 3-months Leuprolide shot, but his Testosterone is still on normal levels (4.7 ng/ML equivalent to 470 ng/dl). His PSA come from more than 50 to 22, but I guess is only because Bicalutamide. His alkaline phosphatase is on 75. His platalets

Hydroxypropyl distarch phosphate (modified starch) - Yes, or No?
Hi I'm getting some mixed info on 'starch' as a safe ingredient for coeliac, mainly as it's origin may be of questionnable source, i.e. wheat/gluten. The info I have gleaned is that if the product is marked GF, it's fine, but from my own experience it is not. I had some seed-based crackers yesterday
