Haemolytic anaemia

Does anyone know anything about haemolytic anaemia? (It's the result of red blood cells not functioning properly).

Pernicious anaemia

After being diagnosed with pernicious anaemia over 40 years ago after a big stomach operation I was told I had pernicious anaemia. Had B12 ever since up to 5 years ago when this young doctor told me it had gone away.

Medichecks Pernicious Anaemia Test

Hi, Just wondering whether anyone here has had the medichecks test done to see if they have Pernicous Anaemia? I have Hashimotos, and my B12 level at my last blood test was 343 (180-900) I'm not getting very far with my GP at the moment, so looking at private testing.

Pernicious Anaemia Blood Tests

I'm waiting for a GP call over the next couple of days, and was going to request a test to rule Pernicious anaemia out, but it seems like they've possibly all been done already.

Can you insist on a Pernicious Anaemia Test with low B12?

I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia at 27 by a specialist after having various tests for other things, and have been on B12 injections ever since and am now in my 60's. My daughter is 28yrs old and her blood test has just come back with 'low B12'.

Is low iron level relevant?

Just before the first lockdown in March 2020, I was diagnosed with pernicious anaemia. Please could someone tell me whether pernicious anaemia accounts also for low B9 and low iron? I now have regular B12 injections and orally take 800mcg B9 daily (having been on 5mg for 6 months).

Olaparib induced anaemia and walking probs, anyone?

Hi Wonderwomen, I have been on olaparib for just under 3 months. It depressed my bone marrow production of red blood cells, I became very anaemicand was given 3 blood transfusions last week, taken off olaparib for 14 days and will go back on at 275. Mg per day if my Haemoglobin stays at about 82 by

Numbness in hands and in face.

Does anyone know if the numbness,I have in my hands and in my face near my mouth could be a,symptom of folate deficiency or pernicious anaemia. Any advice strongly welcomed as it's really starting to worry me now and my heart rate was at 150bpm last night.

Update

Hi All, just a quick update on my anaemia v erythrocytosis carryon! After 3 weeks of iron, I ended up with an HCT over .45, so was told to arrange a venesection which I did. Blood test 3 weeks later confirms HCT down to .37.

Folate deficiency - inherited ?

I have folate deficiency anaemia, all the time unless I take folate. Fatigue/exhaustion. My grandad had pernicious anaemia and thyroid bless him. I wonder if it’s related… I also have thyroid disorder.

Transdermal patch with microneedle technology related article

I think this technology can make lots of disorders and diseases history including pernicious anaemia, but still it's infancy stage. Unfortunately I couldn't find yet regarding B12 yet. Any comments?

Follow up post after call with GP

You kindly recommended getting calcium, Vit D, coeliac, and pernicious anaemia tested. Can we do these ourselves privately ? Do medicheks do them and which tests should we choose? We’ve also pushed for EDS to be looked at again but the GP seemed reluctant to help.

Anaemia problems ?

A constant problem she seems to have is Anaemia, particularly after a bad flare. Her haemoglobin count falls to below 80 and she feels rubbish, looks ghost like and cant do anything. She has had both blood and iron infusions in the past and two recently which helps temporarily.

What indicates anaemia

Can anybody shed any light on my blood count please? My red blood count is low, hct 37 and my haematologist said it's nothing to worry about but I am struggling with my running in that although I feel I'm pushing myself as hard as possible I'm 5 + minutes slower doing my park run from pre pandemic days

Low iron and ferritin levels?

NB:- The cause of the anaemia is due to years of very heavy periods. I am due an ablation next week to help sort this issue.

Greetings

I’m just turned 59, healthy and pretty fit other than the MF and associated anaemia.

Stool test

My doctor said it was unlikely to be my anaemia back as my iron count was within normal levels. It was my stored iron that was low and my red blood cells were enlarged. Oxygen wasn't going round my body enough and I am breathless and fatigued.

Pernicious anaemia

Good morning from the UK. After being without my B12 injections for 5 years due to a young doctor saying they weren’t need any longer and feeling so poorly thankfully I found this post and I was so grateful to so many of you rallying to help me. I’m asking for advice again please, I have now had 2 injections
