Anaemia

So as well as Pernicious Anaemia it seems I may have acquired aplastic anaemia according to my bone marrow results. Does anyone else have this?

I have suffered from mild anaemia in the past and took iron tablets for it. Now despite taking iron tablets I am still anaemia. My haematologist has told me not to take iron every day (I wasn’t told why) but now I find that nothing is helping.

I also take Methotrexate and folic acid but wondering if this contributes to anaemia. how do I raise my iron levels?? My diet is good and I take prescribed iron supplements.

I am wondering if anyone with PMR and/or GCA (both of which I've got/had) has also been diagnosed with anaemia. I notice that Pernicious Anaemia is another autoimmune condition. My GP called me in as my monthly blood tests had suggested I might have anaemia.

At the latest six monthly check up the locum consultant told me about autoimmune hemolytic anaemia and described it as a common complication of CLL.

Her red blood count is also low according to her most recent bloods (before chemo 5) - so I’m wondering if some of these symptoms are exacerbated by anaemia? (One of the nurses mentioned this may be a thing right at the start of treatment) has anyone ever found this?

She has booked me for another gastroscopy for her to do biopsies to confirm whether I have pernicious anaemia or not. I am now wondering whether I do have true Pernicious Anaemia. I self inject twice a week and sometimes still have pins and needles and weakness, however has much improved.

I didn't even know about this disease until I was admitted to hospital with B12 deficiency/anaemia and suggested that it was the cause for my jaundice.(I have been iron deficient on and off since 14, admitted to hospital twice, never knew that there was anaemia without blood loss).

I have been told by a private Dr that I have Pernicious Anaemia causing an autoimmune reaction in my stomach so have been giving regular b12 injections and feeling much improved.

The auto-antibody is found at high frequency in association with autoimmune gastritis and a proportion of these patients will progress to develop pernicious anaemia. Gastric parietal cell antibodies are present in over 90% of patients with pernicious anaemia (Highly sensitive, but not specific).
