I am fed up with them puttin me up and down. Often resulting in me being very unwell. Now they give a different brand but this may affect me again. I just want a natural solution.
Anyone else taking that Aristo brand please?

Many people find different brands are NOT interchangeable
You can request GP specify brand on prescription
Many members are having trouble getting constant unchanging brand levothyroxine
Most easily available (and often most easily tolerated) are Mercury Pharma or Accord
Mercury Pharma make 25mcg, 50mcg and 100mcg tablets
Mercury Pharma also boxed as Eltroxin. Both often listed by company name on pharmacy database - Advanz
Accord only make 50mcg and 100mcg tablets
Accord is also boxed as Almus via Boots, and Northstar 50mcg and 100mcg via Lloyds ....but Accord doesn’t make 25mcg tablets
beware 25mcg Northstar is Teva
Northstar levothyroxine being phased out this month (Feb 2023)
Many patients do NOT get on well with Teva brand of Levothyroxine. Teva is lactose free.
Teva contains mannitol as a filler instead of lactose, which seems to be possible cause of problems. Mannitol seems to upset many people, it changes gut biome
Teva is the only brand that makes 75mcg tablet.
So if avoiding Teva for 75mcg dose ask for 25mcg to add to 50mcg or just extra 50mcg tablets to cut in half
But for some people (usually if lactose intolerant, Teva is by far the best option)
Aristo (currently 100mcg only) is lactose free and mannitol free. Often difficult to locate
Wockhardt is very well tolerated, but only available in 25mcg tablets. Some people remain on Wockhardt, taking their daily dose as a number of tablets
If a patient reports persistent symptoms when switching between different levothyroxine tablet formulations, consider consistently prescribing a specific product known to be well tolerated by the patient.
Physicians should: 1) alert patients that preparations may be switched at the pharmacy; 2) encourage patients to ask to remain on the same preparation at every pharmacy refill; and 3) make sure patients understand the need to have their TSH retested and the potential for dosing readjusted every time their LT4 preparation is switched (18).
I have been on TV for many years I’ve been on 70 5MG for about a year on my last three tests. I was no TSH but they kept me on the 75 until now he has decided to put me up to 100 and given me the Astro. That’s why I was asking about Astro when they had messed up my Dosage but I’m not looking at how I was feeling et cetera and just left me on the 75 and now nearly a year later they put me back to 100 and I was asking the question whether having a different brand was also going to interfere with how I was feeling and would I know if if I was still ill whether it was that particular brand
Oh my blood test so normally about 11 o’clock in the morning they don’t normally do any early ones but maybe next time I’ll have to request that. I do take quite a lot of supplements and in general I am pretty good now I’m back on the 100 I am feeling a bit more upbeat and proactive. But still feeling Cold
Aristo is a relatively recent (March 2020) addition to the levothyroxine products available in the UK.
As always, experiences and opinions vary. What I've done is compile a list of posts which mention Aristo. Some are positive; some are negative. Some simply mention Aristo in passing. This is NOT a definitive, complete list. I just add more posts when I notice them.
Note: Aristo have confirmed they will in February 2023 be launching new dosages and a branded version (Venacamil) which is identical to the generic version. That should make it easier for a GP to prescribe.
If you're not happy with the way your GP is treating your thyroid you need to start standing up for yourself, take them evidence of what you want to do and stand your ground. It's really of no consequence to them if what they tell you to do makes you ill and witha TSH of 32 you can't be feeling good at the moment. Become your own advocate and things should improve.
