Some people are fine with any brand. Some people have problems with excipients in some brands. Some people find one brand works better for them than any other brand.

If you have felt no different when brand has been changed all is well.

If you've had problems then which brand do you do best on and if this is the case have a word with your pharmacy to make a note to only dispense that brand in future. This was mentioned to you in a reply to your previous post on this subject 3 weeks ago:

I remember previous comments but was not able to respond due to chronic pain but thank you again , I will have to take more notice of the effects, but can be difficult as I have other long term conditions.

Unless you notice absolutely no differences, that looks to be a recipe for you never being able to assess which work for you, and which do not.

My medicines document might help you to see the full picture of what is available in the UK.

Mind, it is very common to read this story in various permutations.

I suggest you talk to a pharmacist and see if they are willing to dispense just one make and put that on the records they hold. Many pharmacies are quite helpful - but not all.

If you can't get to an acceptable place using the softly-softly friendly approach, you could ask your doctor to specific the make on your prescription.

My Vade Mecum document has details of the MHRA advice about being prescribed one make only.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

helvella - Vade Mecum for Thyroid

The term vade mecum means:

1. A referential book such as a handbook or manual.

2. A useful object, constantly carried on one’s person.

Please don't get put off by the number of pages!

Not everything is in this one document - my major medicines document is still separate!

I see an option to download in my browser. Or try the links below (go to same document but might force them to download).

What are your most recent thyroid and vitamin results

TSH, Ft4 and Ft3, plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Thyroid levels should be retested 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

Always test early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Presumably you have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Have you had coeliac blood test done

Or are you already on strictly gluten free diet?

Skin issues often caused by undiagnosed gluten intolerance

I am seeing private endocrinologist this afternoon. He has helped me to feel better. I will ask him about the different brands. He was recommended from thyroid uk list.

Have you had coeliac blood test done

Are you on absolutely strictly gluten free diet or tried it

Mouth ulcers can be a manifestation of coeliac/gluten intolerance

celiac.ca/gluten-related-di...

Recurrent aphthous ulcers (canker sores) in the mouth is another manifestation of celiac disease. In some patients, this could be the only symptom of celiac disease. Sometimes, this is due to an autoimmune phenomenon. They do tend to improve with gluten-free diet.
