Just wondering if anyone on here takes Aristo because it's lactose free and suffering with lactose symptoms?

Aristo is relatively new brand option in U.K.

Few members get it

It doesn’t contain mannitol

(Teva brand contains mannitol and this seems to upset many people)

Posts that mention Aristo

healthunlocked.com/search/p...

Only available in 100mcg tablets

Even newer option is Glenmark

Thanks for your reply SlowDragon. I have been taking it for probably a year I reckon with no issues, but the last couple of weeks I've got the horrible bloating back I got with accord and mercury pharma. Don't take anything else so can only assume its that. Might give them a call to see if they have changed anything, worth a shot.

There have been quite a number of posts about Aristo and members' experiences. This search find quite a number of them:

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

And a minor warning. They appear to be changing the name of the product! Just adding a brand name. I don't think this affects how a prescription needs to be written!

Aristo – Levothyroxine Aristo tablets

Aristo – Vencamil tablets Levothyroxine Sodium

In addition to Aristo, there are four other approved lactose-free products:

Glenmark

Intermed

Ranbaxy

Teva

Of these, I don't think anyone has yet told us they have received the fairly new products Intermed or Ranbaxy.

Some members have had problems with Teva but others, often those who cannot tolerate lactose, sometimes find it excellent.

More information in my medicines document.

I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

Thank you helvella for the information. I just feel so bloated again like I was on accord and Mercury pharma, just wondering if anyone else was having issues. Think I may have to call them and ask.I did try to source glenmark, but it took me forever to get aristo in my little seaside town, so can imagine that would be a mission also!

I've been given Aristo the last couple of times. They seem to work fine for me.

But a downside is that the tablet dissolves in my mouth instantly, before I get to swallow it!

I'd have a glass of water ready and put tablet on tongue and drink water immediately.
