MTHFR new labs

I started treating myself for MTHFR, specifically a new symptom I had developed in early February, fatigue.

I began taking 100 mcg methylated Folate and 2,500 mcg Methyl- B12 every day. I also started a liquid hair vitamin at the same time, which I discontinued a week prior to my blood tests due to its biotin content. I noticed a change with two or three days of taking these supplements and within four-six weeks I had greatly improved. By 10-12 weeks I am feeling even better.

I took 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3 with K2 for about 6 weeks, but then I stopped taking it. I am on 2.5 grains of Armour thyroid per day.

I was surprised to see some winners and some losers in my blood tests. So, even though I’m feeling good now, I want to take steps to keep that up. So I'm wondering what advice you have for me. I was especially hoping to increase my ferritin but that did not budge!

Thank you in advance!

Tsh 0.01 (0.4-4.5) mlU/L

Free T4 0.9 (0.8-1.8)ng/dL

Free T3 3.8 (2.3-4.2) pg/mL

Iron, total 181 (40-190) mcg/dL

Iron Binding capacity 369 (250-450) mcg/dL

% Saturation 49 (16-45)%

Ferritin 18 (16-232) ng/mL

Vitamin B-12 803 (200-1100) pg/mL

Folate >24 ng/mL (no range given) (so...useless?)

Vitamin D 35 (30-100) ng/mL

Zinc 72 (60-130) mcg/dL

Magnesium 1.9 (1.5-25) mg.dL

Here are some graphs from the lab with the histories. Thank you in advance!

Do you know your haemoglobin level and your MCV (Mean Cell Volume)? They are usually tested as part of a Full Blood Count / Complete Blood Count.

If your haemoglobin level is very low in range or below range it indicates anaemia.

MCV is low or below range in iron deficiency and high or over range in B12 / folate deficiency.

And this man writes on the subject of iron a lot. Only some of his articles will be relevant to your results :

Hi, yes I had the complete blood count tests too.

Haemoglobin is 14.1 (11.7-15.5) g/dLH

MCV is 92.8 (80-100) fL

In past readings the MCV level was always very high-normal (96.7-97.8). This was something I had read about, that anything over 95 may indicate MTHFR.

Just wondered if you're happy with your t4 and T3 levels- I like mine a lot higher in range.

Not really. I would like the T4 to be higher. I am planning to bring this up at my next endo appointment. Someone on this site suggested to try to get some levo added to the Armour. I hope it goes well. I certainly have doubts bc they really don't like to change medications. Because no matter how much NDT I add, the T4 has not gone up at all.

I will say that once I got my T3 high enough in the range, I have noticed a whole lot of things get so much better regarding my health. Mainly, the crushing depression I was suffering through is completely gone. I'm not sure how T4 affects you. I've never had this one above or at mid-range.
