Hi, would love if I could get some help with these results before my doc appt. A little background: I have been hypo for 15 yrs+ and have been taking 120mg Armour spilt up 5am and noon, previous (2mos ago) Natures 130 mg 1xday for 15yrs with no problems. I've been feeling very jittery for the last 3mos and the nurse says my results show I'm over medicated. I took my 1/2 dose at 5am and had bloodwork done 11am.

Ferritin 29ng/ml (16-232)

Folate 12.3 ng/ml (3.4-5.4)

B12 1039 pg/ml. (200-1100)

Vita D 53 ng/ml (30-100) I supplement (D3 10,000IU, K2 500/mcg) but now switched to liquid D3 2500 IU, 100mcg K2 MK7

TSH 0.08 mIU/L (0.40-4.50)

T4 (Thyroxine), total 5.4 (5.1-11.9 mcg/dL) I know this should be T4 Free but they didn't do as I asked.

T3 Free 2.9 (2.3-4.2 pg/mL)

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 4 (>9 IU/mL)

Thank you in advance!

The nurse is wrong, they don't show you're over-medicated. If anything, they show that your under-medicated, even though you only left six hours between the last dose and the blood draw - in fact, could be that your FT3 is actually lower than that. It's very low.

The nurse is only looking at the TSH. She doesn't know anything about thyroid. A suppressed TSH on its own does not mean over-medication, she should be looking at the FT3, the most important number.

Your ferritin is very low. And, your vit d could be a lot higher.

Thank you! I agree I feel under medicated with tiredness, scaly dry skin. If I was over medicated I would be losing weight and I'm not. I'm Hoping my doctor knows more that his nurse. I started taking grass fed bovine liver pills so hoping that will help ferritin. Thank you so much for your help.

Well, not necessarily. Being over-medicated doesn't always make you lose weight. Sometimes it can make you put weight on! Symptoms can be confusing, because so many cross over from hypo to hyper, which is why we need blood tests to confirm. But, we also need medical staff who know how to read them, and that's where things usually go wrong!

Didn't realize that, was thinking if it through me into hyper I would be losing weight, good to know.

Well my doctor thinks I'm over medicated so he lowered my dose I even wrote down what you said and read it to him. He said he was going by my symptoms. I've schedule an appointment with a naturopath that I've gone to in the past for help on this before I change my dose.

I very much doubt he knows anything about symptoms. They don't do them in med school. Besides, so many symptoms can be of both hypo and hyper that it's difficult to go by symptoms alone. So I think he's telling porkies!

He mentioned he just went to a seminar and it taught about going with symptoms instead of labs. He did also say hypo and hyper have a lot of the same symptoms. I don't know what to do at this point, I really don't want to experiment with my health. Praying the Naturopath I'm seeing today will know more than my doctor he does specialize in thyroid and adrenals. Thank you so much for all your help.

So, your FT3 is probably under-range by now. Guess they didn't mention that in the seminar! I used to think only intelligent people could be doctors. How wrong I was!

I know and I mentioned that to him and he still lowered my dose so frustrating!

Vitamin D is measured in ng/ml so 53ng/ml is perfect. It's equivalent to 132nmol

This is UK based forum....so always double check units of measurement

We tend to measure vitamin D in nmol here

USA and EU it's more often ng/ml

I have brought this up again to ask what your levels are now regarding your burning tongue etc because being under medicated might be causing your problem. I noticed your ferritin is low what is it now?
