Ferritin test

My Ferritin level is 50 Doctor says that is normal Refuses to prescribe even iron supplement

i asked my endo for ferritin blood work along with CRP- hs She wants to know why i am requesting CRP test, also crp is not covered by the insurance. How do i explain?

I'm now considering buying an MMH test to check iron, folate and active B12 as I dont want to go to GP. I'm sort of surprised if it is ferritin, but I am a strict veggie so maybe not lol. I guess I just assumed post menopause wouldnt be an issue.

My serum ferritin test in Dec had improved from 22 (in March 2024) to 78 but at that point I hadn't noticed any improvement in my RLS, however I am now definitely much improved. I haven't had a bad bout for several weeks now and the occasions I have had it, it has been manageable.

My ferritin is 17. Even though I asked trans ferritin saturation not done. I think enough evidence with ferritin as it is to start taking iron tablets though. Should I push for a Trans ferritin saturation test? What value would it add? Thanks in advance

I am due to go to the Doctors on Wednesday to get the results of my blood test. I have just checked online and can see the results all are coming in as satisfactory. My Ferritin Serum test is showing as 23ng/ml.

Ferritin test results serum ferritin level 7 ug/L (12.0 - 233.0) what does it mean?

Hi guys, Had a blood test at my GP after a 3 month course of 305mg Ferrous Fumarate and got results this morning Serum ferritin level: 30 ng/ml [30 - 150]; Note raised CRP.

My doctor wants to know the ferritin story re blood test and RLS. Thank you as always.

Per recommendations of Sue, Jools and others I contacted my Dr to request a Ferritin test. Haven’t heard back yet but I found labs that were done in 2019. My ferritin level was 34 at that time.

Does anyone have a recommendation for where I can get a full panel iron fasting test with serum ferritin in the uk? Many thanks in advance

Hello everyone I have just had a ferritin blood test and been a bit blown away by the result. It was a staggering 155 with a range of 13-150. I haven’t achieved such giddy heights since childhood. It means that the ferrous fumarate is working.

If you have elderly relatives with dementia- ensure that doctors look out for signs of RLS and test for low serum ferritin.

Our Doctor recently did a B12 and Ferritin blood test and is now demanding that we stop self injecting with immediate effect to prevent B12 toxicity….. Has anyone ever heard of this and if not, how do we deal with this?

Recent blood test shows Ferritin 88 (30 to 400) Folate 4.7 (3.89 to 26.8 Could this be why I’m itching my arms every night driving me nuts. Dr is happy with my results, cannot find a reason for this itch. How do I increase these levels please, many thanks

I have a follow up telephone appointment next week to discuss recent blood test results as requested by GP due to abnormal lipid (triglycerides ) and ferritin levels which have been elevated on a few occasions prior too.

I’ve had my blood tested twice this year by my GP surgery and I test regularly with Monitor my Health. I chose MMH because it uses NHS labs so I had assumed I’d get reliable testing. Last week I had a private MMH test (venous draw) showing ferritin of 84.

Recently had an iron panel and ferritin blood test with following results.

This week I had my blood tested and whereas iron was low, ferritin was over the upper limit (by Dutch test standards, anyway.) Isn’t that odd? Low iron but too high ferritin?

(Blood test 4 days ago: ferritin 6, Iron 3.8) Im considering doubling the dose.
