serum folate 22.80 - 8.83-60.8

zinc L10.12 10.7-17.5

selenium H2.78 1.00-1.90

My B12 is always the same - I have PA - at this level I seem to be stable. Injections every 4 days.

I have hashi so was on a double dose of selenium and have now reduced it to 200mgs. It did help with the side affects of the hashi.

Cannot digest greens etc. very well so have supplemented with liquid folate to bump it up, am addressing this issue now. Taste buds up the creek!

The zinc when I 1st had my tests done with blue horizon was sky high - no idea why and neither did they have an answer, now look at it - any suggestions?

Am on 75mgs levo + 121/2 T3 - during night. Diet pretty good. Supplement with vit b complex, folate, selenium, vit d + Mk7, magnesium twice a week vitc 2000 mgs (anything higher and its hello loo 24x7)

As i cannot take iron tabs I buy frozen red fruits of every kind, do a smoothie and down the hatch.

I was on this site before and have followed the advice I received, trial and error but i persevered and though it took some time I came off the floor and gradually found I was still a human being. All my vits etc were bottom range and some almost non existent.

Something is out of kilter but what - help please and thank you.

Your FT3 is still low. You might consider increasing T3 dose by another 6.25mcg

Perhaps add in zinc 2-3 times per week

Are you on strictly gluten free diet?

Thank you SD - no not gluten free - not viable for me I'm afraid - in what form would I take zinc which would be easy to absorb?

Solgar make zinc piccolante - nice small tablet

I don't think most of us with Hashimoto's were looking forward with relish to gluten free diet, but it's absolutely essential for many

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first

Iron from frozen red fruits is not ideal, you need iron from meat. Eat a good portion of liver once a week. If you hate it or are a vegitarian your best bet is to buy organic beetroot juice. It takes some getting used to. Start with a small glass, if you drink too much it can upset your tummy. However it's full of iron, zinc, selenium and other micronutrients. Look it up. You could try to juice it yourself but too messy really. Too much makes you feel sick, so go slow. A small glass everyday is going to be more beneficial and doable. I hate the smell and taste so hold my nose and swallow it like medication. Better than synthetic iron pills anyway. Incorporate fresh boiled beetroot into your diet too if you like eating it. Google beetroot juice and see a host of other health benefits.

Thanks lulu2red - I do eat red meat fish etc. but never thought of beetroot, which I do like - not sure about juice but could give it a try. No not keen on liver but use liver pate, best I can do, appetite poor so make sure I eat a good variety of foods as best I can. Have ordered some zinc tabs on a trial basis as advised by slowgragon and will have to wait and see if they help also.

The awful cramps in my feet and up my shins are a nuisance plus the swelling in my left ankle - not the right one which I find very odd indeed.

Again thanks for your help - I was doing so well too, ah! its back to the drawing board for me.

God bless.
