Calcium

I do not take Alendronic Acid and try to take calcium-rich foods (eg skimmed milk). I'm wondering if anyone has experience/knowledge of over-the-counter medication for boosting calcium levels. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi everyone. please i want to ask how much Dr prescribed calcium daily to take if you have osteoporosis ? Because my Dr prescibed 1500mg calcium .i found it too much or maybe i'm wrong . Thank you so much.

I have osteoartheritis moderate to severe in right hip I attend physio one a month and do exercises every day I really fo not want surgery so am doing everything I can to maintain it I take cortiflex which contains 40 gm of chondroiten 2 however I'm thing of getting a supplement of chondroiten 2

I am trying to eat calcium rich foods for my osteoporosis. I read that many foods that contain calcium also contain oxalates, which inhibit calcium absorption. Does anyone know if oxalates only affect the calcium in that food, or other foods with calcium that you may eat at the same time?

What role does magnesium have regarding thyroid health and does it control calcium levels? Also, does T4 and T3 replacement play a part in calcium levels? Thank you for any advice members are able to offer.

I have early proteinuria, why do they put normal when some things are not, my egfr is not bad 96mL,serum calcium level 2.31 [2.2-2.6] serum phosphate 1.19/L[0.8-1.5] serum adjusted calcium concentration 2.30mmo/L [2.2-26] serum creatinine level 56umo/L[59.0-104.0] any help please.

I have just read a comment on Facebook where someone had questioned taking alendronic acid with bottled water with a high calcium content: "If calcium is taken at the same time as AA it will block the absorption of AA and so it won't be effective" My GP told me to continue to take over the counter calcium

At my last blood test I was found to have very low calcium levels. The doctor sent a prescription for a calcium supplement to be taken for 2 months then book another blood test.

Calcium. Long AF history, ablation 2002, AF returned 2018 due to open heart op. Then 2nd ablation Sept. 2024. Meanwhile (2010-ish?), I found I was dairy (and wheat) intolerant, gave up all dairy and started calcium supplementation at 400 mg/day (on top of Ca-fortified soya milk).

Hi all, Has anyone else had a problem with serum calcium being above rangeI've just had blood test for serum adjusted calcium by GP. Serum calcium is high 279 (220 - 260). They want me to retest in 6 weeks.
