I've bit the bullet and ordered Nature-Throid. Praying that it makes me feel like myself again. I've had no thyroid for 8 months and my body hasn't taken to Levo as it should (levels never balance for long) and I'm currently on 150 Levo a day, my latest blood tests are;
Thyroid Antibodies - 0.2 (0.00-10.00)
T3 - 5 (4.20 - 6.70)
T4 - 15.6 (6.5-17)
TSH - 0.43 (0.34-5.60)
I've also had my Iron, B12, Vit D and Magnesium, all are within the range but low so I have started taking supplements for each.
I'm wondering how I should start introducing NDT, do I still take my levo to begin with? I have ordered 2 grain (130mg).
Thanks

Quarter the NDT tablet with a pillcutter and reduce Levothyroxine to 75mcg and take 1/2 grain NDT with NDT and a second 1/2 grain dose 8-12 hours later. If you tolerate the T3 okay you can stop the Levothyroxine 2 weeks later and increase NDT to 2 x 1 grain doses.
Great, thank you. So if I tolerate the T3 ok, do I take 1 grain in the morning and 1 grain later on in the day or can I take both at once? I'm Scared that I'll miss the second dose as I always take my Levo as soon as I wake up. Suppose I can take one when I get up and one when I go to sleep
Splitting the dose spreads the T3 more evenly. It's probably best to split the dose until you are used to T3. Morning and bedtime dosing are a good way of doing it.
