Nature throid.

I've been on Nature Throid for about 8 1/2 weeks. My latest results were tsh 0.4 T4 10.6 t3 4.

I have been getting really bad muscle pains in my back. I've never suffered from muscle pains in all of the 28+ years of being on levo only. Has the ndt got anything to do with it or could it be a virus???

130396, How soon after starting NDT did the pain start?

Hi.

They started about 6 weeks after I went on to 2 grains. I was always ok on levo. Ok on combo and ok on T3 only. It's like all my back muscles ache really bad

130396, If NDT was the cause of the back pain I would have thought it would have started relatively sooner after starting NDT, but things can build up and become a problem. NatureThroid is supposed to be hypoallergenic so it may be worth investigating other causes.

Thank you Clutter. I have worked it out and the first times was off work with this was just before easter. I reckon it's been about 4 weeks. I had to have two weeks off work and been at work this week. My dr says I've to phone hin Monday and let him know how the weekend goes. I seem to constantly have my heat pad on it.

130396, may be worth checking ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as low levels can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms.

Hi Clutter.

Vit D is 111 B12 is 772. Folate is mid range. Ferritin 94. %iron saturation is 21%.

I am not allowed to take iron supplement to increase iron as I have a complex blood disorder called essential thrombotocytosis. I have to take hydroxycarbamide for this which in turn lowers platelets and other bloods.

130396, they look fine, you can rule them out.

Hello 130396 I too have had bad pains since being on Nature Throid. I have been on it about 7 weeks now and have worked up to 2 grains. My pains have been in my knees and lower back and started the next day after taking it. I am actually not doing too well on it at all, no energy, my thoughts are not normal at all, I am normally a cheerful person. I cannot even see people at the moment talking wears me out.

I did have one long term pain whilst I was on Levo but did not put it down to Levo and it came on only in the last 2 years and I have been on Levo 18 years. The pain was in my kidney region in my back, left hand side. Funny enough as soon as I started to take Nature Throid that completely went and my eyebrows started to grow back.

I am not doing well on Nature Throid at all at the moment I am bed ridden a lot of the time. My adrenal testing kit just came this morning so I am going down that route. My iron, vitamin D, B12 levels are all good. I did have a diagnosis of M.E. 18 years back.

How have you been on Nature Throid apart from the backache.

I've experienced more hot flushes. Feel adgitated. Got anxious type feeling in my tummy ( that's why I went on Nature Throid as been having anxious type tummy feeling for 20months)

I'm also on hydroxycarbamide fir a blood condition which means I am not allowed to take iron.

I am feeling worried, more so now I've got this excruciating muscle pain. Can only stand at work for about two hours then it starts. By end of the day it's unbeatable and I feel like crying with the pain.

Is your pain muscular for you

I took it for 5 days and had flu like body aches and pains each day. My doctor switched me to WP Thyroid and the pain went away immediately...possibly an allergic reaction to one of the fillers. I am not sure. Hope you feel better.

That's not nice at all :( my pain is in my knees so feels like joints, the pain in my back feels muscular and I have a very heavy feeling in my legs like I have to push them along to walk. I had a similar pain to you in my left side kidney area, I would wake up and it was not there and would wear on more as the day went along , this was the last 2 years on levo. Strange! as soon as I started to take Nature Throid it completely went and has not returned.

Just don't know what to do!!!! Thinking of asking Gp if I can go back to combo..

I wonder if it's to do with hydroxycarbamide which I started about a month before nature throid as I have a blood condition which means I am not allowed to take iron supplement.

My saturation is in range but low. I know I cannot bare this pain anymore.

Hello Katherine123 and 130396, I've also had muscle pain on Nature Throid, mainly in my upper back and neck. I've been on it about 3 months so far and some symptoms have improved but I'm not great yet. The muscle pain has come on quite recently and I've had some headaches which have gone now.

When I started NDT I bought ThyroidS and Nature Throid as I took ThyroidS first and thought it was making me anxious. I now know I just took too much too soon.

I've switched back to ThyroidS very recently and the pain seems to be resolving.

Thank you Jacquid

Are you self medicating? These muscle pains started about 4 weeks after I started nature throid.

Started off with just an area by my shoulder blade but I now have it through all of my back muscles. Excruciating pain by the end of the day.

Never had anything like this on levo, combo or T3 only.

I am on 2 grains Nature Throid. Went on it about 10th Feb and started muscle pain in shoulder about 23rd March. Had to have 3 days off work then. Back for 3 days then by the third day pain so bad I was glad the next day was good Friday and would be having 4 days off. Went back to work following Tuesday and managed to do a morning at work but was then off for two weeks. Thought back was better but then pains started coming back and I am only pain free for couple if hours a morning. By Friday this week I could've cried with the muscle pain.

I really don't know what to do.

Since being on ndt my blood results are quite different to when I was on levo, combo and the T3 only.

Tsh 0.4

T4 10.6

T3 4.0
