Mum with CBD
Good morning It's been a while since I wrote on here. My mum got diagnosed with CBD in 2017 we were told in January 2020 she had 4 weeks left to live and was moved into a care home for palliative care. Thankfully she is still with us. Hasn't eaten and been bed bound now for 4 years. She survives on 6

Hello, I was diagnosed with ET and JAK2+ last week. Have started aspirin and given information re Hydroxy. I’m not sure whether I want to start Hydroxy as I have no risks, apart from high cholesterol which Haematologist did mention. Just wondering if anyone has delayed starting Hydroxy. My Platelet

Anticoagulants - Warfarin v NOACs
Recently my EP suggested that maybe I would prefer to be taking NOACs rather than my current anticoagulant Warfarin as it would reduce blood tests. On his recommendation I had a consultation with my GP to discuss this option. I have had 2 occasions in the past 6 years where I have had a serious bleed

Profile Update
I was going to update my profile but after adding additional ailments several times and then having them disappear, I have decided to inform via this post. I was diagnosed with PMR early 2016 with 15 mgs prednisone. Since that year I've had right leg replacement and bleeding ulcer at the same time

protein supplements: yes or no?
Since I just finished Viewray Tx at UCLA, I’m moving on to the diet & exercise research zone. I’d like input on what the latest research, if any, is RE protein supplements. Whey isolate vs. vegan protein supp? Does either one promote or suppress PCa after Tx? Also, what’s the latest on eggs? It seems

hi, Yesterday I posted an update about my mum and her icu journey. I have a further update I would like to share. From her ct the original infection is finally clearing up. She has a lot of fluid around her lungs and pneumonia at the bottom that the antibiotics are not clearing. They said the chance

New ED Gell FDA Approved
From the Harvard Health Newsletter; Men will soon have a new option for treating erectile dysfunction (ED) that supposedly works faster than regular ED medication — and is available without a prescription. In June, the FDA approved the over-the-counter sale of MED3000 (Eroxon), a topical gel treatment

No Epi
Did your Dentist know you have AFib and are taking Eliquis? Dentists use Lidocaine as it is a vasoconstrictor, however in your case Local with No Epi would have been best. Also sometimes before an Extraction you come off Eliquis 1-2 days before but your Dentist would have consulted with your EP. For

High blood pressure medication and fibro
Hi all hope everyone is OK today. The gp has decided I need blood pressure tablets , I have been on them 2 weeks and feel awful. I had a cold but that's gone, this is like a really really bad flare up. I didn't feel ill with hbp and I never go near the gp. The consultant had requested 6monthly blood

Warfarin not raising inr....why?
I've been taking warfarin for 4 weeks trying to get to inr level between 2-3. Even though I'm taking higher dose 8mg my INR is staying at 1.3. I thought by 4 weeks it would have gone up on that dose. It's a pain because I got to have bloods taken every 3 days to see if it goes up. I'm not taking any

What it is like to get an AV fistula, My journey
I am writing this for those who are heading to dialysis and want to know what it is like. As RonZone did with PD, I am talking about home hemodialysis, HHD. My lab numbers are at the point to "get-er done." The first step: I was scheduled for an AV fistula; first-stage left brachiobasilic fistula

Hi, I’m a 69 yr old retired nurse. For the past nine years I have been experiencing all the common symptoms of PV and have had three embolitic events, a DVT, Pulmonary embolism and a cerebral venous thrombosis. I was treated for other things and no specific blood tests were ever done. Things got so bad

HiDoes anyone know if injuring your foot and ankle by twisting it takes longer to heal when you have lupus? On the 24th I slipped on the narrow step trying to get into my sister's car. My left foot slipped off the step, 1st going over on my ankle and then twisted making a horrible snapping noise. My

Diverticulitis, hemerrhoids (?), fissure (?), bleeding
Hello. After a pretty unusual bout of diverticulitis diagnosed by a CT scan, I saw my GI doc and he wants to do another colonoscopy. This is my 4th bout in 6 years - not very bothered by it - but the last one, well, I could not get the stool out, and then started pooping orangy slime. After that I went
