Did your Dentist know you have AFib and are taking Eliquis?

Dentists use Lidocaine as it is a vasoconstrictor, however in your case Local with No Epi would have been best. Also sometimes before an Extraction you come off Eliquis 1-2 days before but your Dentist would have consulted with your EP.

For any future dental work make sure there is an alert in your chart

Just to clarify,lidocaine is the anesthetic,the numbing drug,the Epi-epinephrine is the vasoconstrictor,by constricting the arteries it magnifies the strength and duration of lidocaine effect.Lidocaine itself has no vasoconstricting properties,thus on its own it is perfectly safe for us,afibers
