Try not to worry. You've had such a long wait. It will be good for you to finally have something done.
look for the positives and how much better you will feel after it, think of the things you will be able to do. It’s really good news after waiting so long, try not to worry 🤗
I’m sure everyone will be keeping their fingers crossed for you that you get your operation next month.
In the meantime….have you spoken to your rheumy nurse about getting some better pain control?
Hello there , try not to get worried but we all appreciate what you are going through. Picture what it was like without pain if you can and imagine the pleasure of no pain anymore if that is possible. Remember this is about being pain free but to get there the path will be hard for a while. Unfortunately in these cases the resolution is not always instant like with a headache or flu. I have had knee replacement so understand how hard it is to deal with constant pain & manage it and we all get days when we give up on ever finding ways to manage , so don't be ashamed to admit it is all too much right now and have faith in the Consultant who is trying to help you and is willing to try. Fingers crossed it is sooner rather then later, the more positive for the future you can be the more likely you will get good support & a good outcome. Take care and best wishes
You will find it so much better once you have it done, 7 years is a long time to wait for a hip replacement. I had avascular necrosis in my right hip and after it was replaced it was so much better. Hang in there.
Thank you for reply Princess Alexandra hospital Harlow after 4 years said was too complex because of Avascular Necrosis and I have PSC and many other problems
Whipps cross took me over and they kept coming up with other reasons not to do
In the end I referred myself to RNOH in Middlesex they accepted me but for past 2 years they found heart problems hip full of holes
Right knee also very bad also
Have finally agreed to do 18 October my son passed away from lung cancer 2 years ago and I have not been back to my house since then sleep on my daughters sofa bed so have to find somewhere to go after it all seems hopeless
I have no friends to talk to
My daughter has her own health problems
And can’t cope with me anymore
Just feel like giving up
If you read this thank you
Hi Perrie46, sorry just noticed you have other problems than the health issue . These should be addressed by your social services ask for an assessment of needs due to health issues. You can request this on line , your health and emotional issues class you as in need of community support. This is dealt with by your local council. Or you can be assessed for help by hospital OT but that would be after the op has been done hope that helps.
Thank you so much I will look into all you suggested it’s being hard as I live in Norwich and they say I can only get help there as that’s where I pay council tax
Hi Perrie46, that is very true. But OT hospital care should be available even if at your families as it is NHS but you may need to be registered as a GP temporary patient. It is much easier if at your own home but I understand that's because of bereavement have you considered yet whether you wish to go back to your old home as you would be alone. I know these choices are hard as I am a widow and tried to move in the early days but still live in my family home alone. It takes time to grieve. Take care
Please don't give up, things may feel more overwhelming at the moment as you have a date now to move forward with your hip replacement, is there any way you could do as katieoxo60 has suggested and ask about community support. I really hope you can get help and feel better after your surgery.
I had a partial hip replacement last Monday for a fracture and avascular necrosis.I got home yesterday walking on elbow crutches.
My hip replacement was not as painful as I imagined, painful immediately post op, but lashings of oxytocin soon sorted that out. I've only been taking paracetamol since day 3 post op.
The relief after surgery has been amazing. I'm so pleased I had it done.
My advice is go for it, you will be pleased that you did.
I too had hip replacement and have Avascular Necrosis had hip replacement 4 October still in lots pain still have to use walker and now gynaecologist and bowel problems ( did not have these before surgery ) all gp has done put me on Mirtazapam and having Colonoscopy
On 13 Feb don’t know why it’s all happening
Oh my giddy Aunt, thats awful! Pray you get sorted real soon xx
It's understandable to be worried. If you have specific concerns then write them down so that you can ask them before you have the operation.
It sounds like good news that you can have surgery. If your surgeon is experienced in this type of surgery all the better. Make sure you know what you will need to do post-op to ensure you have the best recovery.
Wishing you a successful operation and great recovery.
I have avascular necrosis of both hips I've been waiting a few years I finally got put on the waiting list for a decompression operation it's gonna take up to another 3 months all I know is it's extremely painful, I feel for you waiting 7 years
