Hi All, I am new here. I have both conditions since June 2018 after a long haul flight. Currently trying steroid injections as the last resort, but havent tried anything else. My biggest struggle is sleep, as after I wake up I cannot fall asleep again. Any tips? I am using white noise, I have Alexa and

Steroid injection
I’ve been really bad this year and struggled for months with awful pain in both shoulders which has made life very difficult as I’m on my own now. I rang the clinic a few months ago and was given an emergency appointment with a locum Rheumatologist who upped my Sulfasalazine from 4 a day to 5. It’s not

Is this a flare ?
I started on Benepali in mid June ,14 wks ago & very soon felt a real improvement but for the last 3 wks my right wrist has been very swollen & painful. In the past the joint pain has been more spread around & all over the place but this just feels very stuck, making my elbow and shoulder hurt too.

Steroid injections
Got fibromyalgia, plantar fasciitis and bursitis but just lately it has got worse and really tender in my joints and hips. I’ve been given exercises to do which are killing me literally. If not improved within the next 4 weeks I have to have steroid injections which I am quite worried about. Any suggestions

Fed up
Hi I’ve not post for a while but since graduation I’ve managed to increase my running to 3.5 miles. Then disaster struck woke up last Thursday with swollen knee. Ended up having fluid drained off it and a steroid injection in the joint. I’ve been told to rest it etc however I can already feel like

Morning lovely people . After a bit of advice about applying for a blue badge . I’ve had RA for 3 years , it’s been quite a journey , having tried the usual meds I’m now on Rituximab infusions every 6 months and leflunomide daily .I’ve had shingles and just to add to the list I broke my ankle in April

Scar like this!
Hello All, I have not posted on here for quite some time, but I do read the majority of daily posts, which have helped me tremendously, and I thank you for them. A summary of my AF history: I am a female aged 72. I was diagnosed with AF in May ‘16. Have had 10 electric cardio versions & 2 RF ablations

Steroid injection
Does anyone on here have any experience of having steroid injections? I was diagnosed earlier in the year with a connective tissue disease (told it was showing signs of Lupus) and Raynaud’s phenomenon. Despite being put on various meds, I seemed to get worse rather than better and developed depression

Rheumatology today
Had my first appointment today and was given a steroid injection and put on Sulfasalazine . They said there is obviously an inflammatory issue but didn’t actually say what it was as such. I’ve got to have regular bloods and a review with consultant in 3 months. They gave me a form to take to reception

Swollen Hand - causing Carpel tunnel
Hi everyone , not sure if anyone could advise in their experience.. My wife has had a bit of a flare to the hand and we’ve been using plenty of ice and copper gloves to bring down the swelling which has seemed to work well. However her Palm is still feeling tight and it’s caused numbness in her thumb

Pain clinic appointment
Just got back from my first pain clinic appointment. I’ve never ever ever been so happy to walk out of an appointment in all my life knowing that there is hope. The consultant asked me a wide range of questions and said it’s not normal for a 20 year old girl to be in this much pain (FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS

Another newbie needing advice ...
Good afternoon, I have been following all your posts for several months since my diagnosis of early seronegative inflammatory arthritis since February 2018. I was diagnosed following my 4th rheumatology opinion suggested by my pain consultant and occupational health doctor. I started on hydroxychloroquine

Hip replacement
Hi. I am new here. Can someone help? I am 56, fit and active. I have been told that I need a hip replacment and I wonder - would steroid injection work? What is the likelihood of this? How fast do hips degenerate? Thanks

Hip replacement
Hi i am new here, 57 yrs old, active and fit. Ihave just been told that I need a hip replacment. Would a steroid injection work? Does anyone know what the % likelihood is of steroids working instead? Or what the recovery from such an operation is like? Help!

Joint injections
Hi some of you may know I’m suffering really bad with my shoulders and neck and I called the hospital last week for a steroid injection into my shoulder. I’ve had these before but can’t remember whether I can drive after and also I have to go to work afterwards. I know it’s sore when it wears off but
