Hi beautiful people. I hope that you are all keeping safe and warm in this cold snap. Finlay just loves the snow. He races and skids around the garden, digging, rolling and eating it, then in fir a cuddle to warm up, He has definitely brought the joy back to our lives. I had my first Rheumatology appointment

Tennis... Elbows....anyone...? Sudden onset..?
As mentioned earlier...my Neurophysiologist identified nerve damage in my feet just before Xmas. But looking back ..my symptoms sequence (over two years now) seemed to start with increasing fatigue, hot hands, then bizarrely - tennis elbow in my right arm. This "spread" to left arm two months later

As with fellow PMR sufferers shoulder pain has been a common factor I started shoulder repair about 20 years ago with steroid injections and rotator cuff repairs. All of which gave temporary relief. In 2015 a surgeon put me forward for shoulder replacement but as pain was not the major factor I put

cortico steroid injections
Hi, I’m just wondering why steroid injections aren’t used in PMR? Is it because a high enough dose can’t be achieved? I have way less side effects with a steroid injection than Prednisilone., which I can’t take. Thanks

light at the end of the tunnel
hello, a more cheerful post from me for a change. After an utterly dreadful painful, itchy year I have finally been approved for Biologics for my psoriasis and psa. I am having a steroid injection in my hip in 2 weeks. I read the NICE guidelines at length and went to my appointment armed with knowledge

New diagnosis
I am female and 42 years old. I was diagnosed with RA back in November. I had a steroid injection, it helped, but at a review after 3 weeks it was decided I needed methotrexate. Consultant gave me 6 weeks of Prednisolone to tide me over until the MTX kicks in. I take one naproxen a day too. I am so much

To take or not to take?
Hi, I wanted to shout from the rooftops , June time I believe. My final dose of Pred, after dropping from 30 mg through to 1 mg every other day. I had already been berated from my Rumi, for once before upping my dosage when I started to get stiff wrists , and unable to use a pair of scissors. I ended

Steroid injections
Evening All,Just to fill you in a wee bit before asking my question. I am currently using the 7 week DSNS taper from 7mg to 6.5mg pred. Going from 8mg to 7.5mg and on to 7mg was very slow but I took my time. I'm glad to say the PMR is quire good at present, few tweeks occasionally but really good.

Steroid injections for OA knee
Hi, I'm 74 had PMR since 2017, lowest dose Ive been at is 4.5 mgs, currently at 7.5mgs. Been involved with local MSK service since August 2022 following injury left knee, diagnosed as oa with possible damage to cartilage. Physio not helped, steroid injection a possibility but according to MSK protocol

Been diagnosed with RA for about 8 years now been prescribed Methotrexate as well as hydroxychloriquine and sulfasalazine. Very worried!
I am struggling to accept triple therapy. Really worried about causing more damage to my body with secondary side effects. I am sore all the time but take pain relief and ibuprofen with hydroxychloriquine and sulfasalazine which helps me manage. Managed so far with flare ups probably 6 monthly and Steroid

Knees up !!
I have been having increasing pain in my knees and finding it very difficult to walk any distance and after sitting for a while very hard to get out of the chair - so I asked my GP for X-rays to see what the problem was as I didn't think it was related to PMR. the results show I have Osteoarthritis in

New site for IM steroid injection?
Went to hospital on Thursday for an IM steroid, As you know this is usually a simple process with a quick jab in the bum, but I was told that there is a new protocol in place and the jab was administered in my hip area ( a couple of inches below the hip joint ). This, apparently, is to avoid any danger

Ischial bursitis anyone?
My problems initially started with what I called sit bone pain after sitting on a wrought iron chair for two hours without a cushion (I now know how daft that was). After 4 months with no respite and developing symptoms which were diagnosed as PMR I was told by my rheumatologist that prednisolone should

Private Jabs?
Can I have steroid injections privately? I've had a few over the past 5 years with varying results both into joints and in my bottom. I had a rheumy appointment last week and they gave me a jab to help with my pain. When I woke up next day I thought I was dreaming! I've never had such a fast result
